Personality & Traits

General Overview Young, brash, head-strong, opinionated. Dorian Rochester was sent to military school from ages 6 to 12, as was customary in his family. Sure he learned obedience, routine, and cleanliness - along with weapons training and basic combat - but he also gained a cocky attitude that still has a tendency to show occasionally. Some might find it charming, or irritating, and it has jeopardised his career on a couple of occasions, but Dorian will rarely admit when he's wrong.

He likes to be prepared, to plan, and then brazenly make decisions on the spur of the moment. He's a complicated guy, that Dorian Rochester.
Ambitions To become the Captain of his own Starfleet vessel.
Hobbies & Interests Weights, running, strategy games, weapons training, space walks, extreme holodeck programs, professional woodcutting, eating.

Personal History Dorian was born in the green countryside of Northumberland, England, Earth, in 2365. He was the youngest of three children, born into the Rochester family known for their standing in Earth politics and Starfleet Marine service. His father was an Admiral, and his father before that, and so on. Dorian was raised by a Nanny in strict near-Edwardian principles, much to the child's chagrin. He wanted to run and play, get in the mud, climb a tree. But it was strictly forbidden.

At age 6 Dorian joined his siblings at the Edinburgh Preparatory Military Academy, a pseudo boarding school in Scotland that aimed to bring discipline and stiff-upper-lip principles to young children. Dorian was never one for rules. He would often play pranks on teachers, find a way to escape from the dormitory, and encourage others to misbehave with him. He was almost expelled on a number of occasions, and was told repeatedly he was disgracing the Rochester name. He did, however, excel at the basic training he received at the Academy.

He completed his Secondary schooling back in London, undertaking further psychical and combat-based roles. He had long believed, and indeed had been told on numerous occasions, that he would either join politics or the Marine Corp, and it seemed Marines were his destination. However, the adolescent had also developed a cocky attitude, and his psychical training gave him an ego that was hard to tame. As such, he was deemed ill-fitted to the Marine Corp when he attempted the Entrance Exam at aged 16. He was told he'd need to do a lot more maturing before he could become a Marine.

Though he failed to get into the Marines, he was able to study hard and use family connections to gain acceptance into Starfleet Academy in 2383, looking at the Security or Tactical field. Again it didn't take long for Dorian to become the class clown and instigator of pranks within his year. This earned him a few disciplinary measures and he was suspended for a short period. Returning home, Dorian was told by his parents that if he could not complete the Academy, he would not be welcome back in their home and would receive no support from them. Feeling he had pushed his luck too far already, he agreed to return to Starfleet, improve his grades and performance, and graduate.

Dorian eventually graduated, a year later than everyone else, in 2387, where he joined the USS Cavendish in the Ops department. He had managed to temper most of his attitude problems and proved himself to be a prepared, organised, and energetic young officer. As a Crewman he impressed his superior officers and he was promoted to the rank of Ensign after one year. In 2389 he was granted a position on the USS Pandora, exploring the Inconnu Expanse, as an Ops Officer. Dorian believed he was well on the way to becoming the upstanding officer he was meant to be.
