== Later that morning ==

Krysia had returned to James' quarters after her meeting with Aeryn & slipped back into bed cuddling up with James, waking up later she awoke to find James lying on his side looking her she couldn't help but grin at the beaming smile that was on his face. "I haven't seen you smile like that before" she grinned as she studied his features. "What? What's making you look at me like that?"

James couldn’t help but smile, “”You're Glowing Krysia, you look amazing.”

Krysia looked at James for a moment, “Glowing... what are you talking about?” she gave James a curious look before she suddenly realised, "Are you saying what I think you're saying?" she sat up pulling the covers up around her, "you think that I'm..." she looked at James who was still grinning like a Cheshire Cat "...pregnant!!" she leaned over to James and kissed him passionately before lying back on the bed, "Are you sure? REALLY sure?"

“I’m sure now, I had a feeling earlier, but while you slept I used a tricorder to make sure.” He watched her to see her expression.

Krysia lay for a moment taking it all in before sitting back up again “Can I see the readings?” She sat waiting while James passed her the tricorder, she sat intently going over the details, “According to this I must be 2-3 weeks...” she looked at James, “So this means that I was already pregnant before we got stuck in that bubble?”

Nodding James said, “That is the conclusion that I’m coming to. So Nyx and Owen need to be told once we get back to the ship. The bubble just incorporated things that were already happening then reset when we were brought back to our reality.”

She lay back down & cuddled up to James, “So this means... we didn’t lose our baby after all I was pregnant all along?” she smiled the biggest smile yet, “as soon as we get back to the ship I need to see Doctor Brookes I want to make sure everything goes okay.”

“I agree, we need to make sure our time in the bubble didn’t have any affect on the baby or you.”

“I’m also going to have to tell Owen” she smiled, “I wonder what he’ll make of being an uncle?”

Laughing James said, “I’m interested in what Nyx will say as well, considering his reaction while we were in the bubble.”

Krysia's smile faded for a moment, "I remember that all too well." she changed the subject, “I’ve heard you talking in your sleep from time to time, you tend to toss and turn quite a bit when something is troubling you.”

“I have a lot on my mind lately, so I haven’t been sleeping well, I don’t mean to keep you awake at night.”

“I know you’ve been having disturbed dreams about your previous wife & daughter too” she gently lay her head back on his shoulder “I can only imagine what it must have been like losing them the way you did and then to find me... a woman who looked just like your wife. I hope my being pregnant isn’t going to cause you any extra worry especially as you don’t have the answers you’ve been seeking as to who caused what happened to your family yet.”

James nodded, “ The dreams seem to be coming more frequently now, I keep reliving their deaths, finding their bodies and feeling helpless. What makes it worse is we never caught up to those responsible, and I promised those with me that I wouldn’t rest until their families deaths were avenged. It something that haunts me everyday. Now that I’m remarried with a baby on the way I’m concerned about keeping both of you safe.” James looked down trying to keep his emotions in check but was having a hard time doing it.

“You don’t have to worry about us” she smiled as she looked up at him, “I can take care of myself & I don’t intend on letting anything happen to me or our baby. Plus we have a ship & crew who take care of their own, I can just imagine what Tyson is going to say!” She grinned, “Hopefully Starfleet will find out something about what happened to your wife & daughter as well as who is responsible.”

James nodded, “I’ve held onto that wish for a while now, but as time goes on those responsible seems to be slipping through Starfleet's grasp. What we need is new clues or some new information to guide us to those that attacked the station and killed all those on board including my wife and daughter.”

“Just promise me you won’t go looking for answers alone” she looked concerned, “I don’t want anything to happen to you, I need you here with me helping to raise this baby.”

Holding her close and kissing Krysia, James said, “I Promise, I don’t want to loose either of you and I don’t want you worried about losing me either.”

Krysia nodded and lay against him, she only wished she could get some answers for him. Laying close to his body made her feel safe, secure & relaxed his arms wrapped around her gave her a whole new feeling of security especially now they suspected she was expecting his baby. “I feel safe with you James”

Holding her close he said, “I feel more relaxed then I have in years, and I will always strive to keep you and our child safe.” Looking toward the ceiling he closed his eyes and opened his mind more and more wishing that a solution would present itself to close a painful memory from his past.

< Later that morning >

Krysia made her way to sickbay with the readings that James had taken of her as she'd slept, walking into sickbay she smiled warmly as she approached Tyson this would more or less be the last time she'd see him as he was leaving, "Penny for your thoughts Doctor?"

He sat his PADD aside as he was seated. He let his gaze understand Krysia. They both had arrived onboard together. She was a friend. Anything he could do to help both her and Lt. Smith. "People didn't say that in my day." He replied, "but good one!"

Krysia grinned, "I've been learning some old earth phrases" she couldn't help but notice the typical concerned Doctor look she was getting from Tyson, "Stop worrying... I'm fine, infact I'm better than fine."

She handed him the tricorder she'd been cuddling ever since she walked in the door, "I need you to look over these readings, James & I are both pretty sure we're looking at them correctly.

Stepping out from his desk, Tyson began to walk around his office. He held out the tricorder and reviewing the data that was recieved and posited by the device. "I'd rather have had a medical tricorder to review these data sets." He led out Krysia into the sick bay to rest herself.

Krysia lay down watching nervously as Tyson looked at the tricorder readings, "We are right aren't we? I am pregnant aren't I?" her heart was racing right now she needed to hear that everything was right. She absentmindedly fiddled with her wedding ring as she waited for Tyson to answer her. "Tyson?"

He set the tricorder on the medical cart, a computer integrated systems device that was a portable unit. The readings came up full screen as Tyson accessed some of the finer components from the scanner, and allowed the sickbay to preview and show Krysia her pregnancy in vitro.

Tyson let a small collected smile showing the data confirming the pregnancy. Since the children had yet to mature, Krysia was presented the PADD. "Congratulations you’re a Mother." He handed the confirmation for Krysia to see.

"Wait a minute...." She looked at the PADD curiously, "This shows two babies!" she looked at Tyson astounded "I'm expecting twins??"

He broke into a measured pleased smile for Krysia and Smith.

She took a few moments to get over the shock but eventually beamed a smile a few tears running down her face, "Thank you" she wiped away the tears "I know it's only a matter of weeks but after everything we've been through..."

"It's alright Its understandable."

Tyson checked with Krysia's body levels of sugars, blood pressure, iron levels and blood cbc and plasma of bio androgens to the baby. Deep inside he sighed a relief.

"Mrs. Smith needs to get some good rest, and many good foot rubs!" He winked. "When you tell that to Mr Smith."

"Foot rubs huh?" Krysia smiled, "I know for humans pregnancies are about 9 months in the Drax it's around 7 so not sure what'll happen for me being half of each. It won't cause any problems will it?"

"This is normal. We augment some of the testing and supplements. I will be working up a term pregnancy work up for you." He smiled.

"In the other timeline... the baby came early, I don't remember a lot but from what I remember I came close to dying..." she frowned, "but this pregnancy is different."

Tyson listened. He knew the problems experienced in the alternate universe was harrowing. Krysia almost lost her baby in the alternate universe.
Placing a hand on Krysia's shoulder for support Tyson assured her "I have all the faith that things will turn out fine."

Krysia smiled and nodded, she knew Tyson was right and at least this time there was a fully equipped sickbay and Tyson himself on hand if anything unplanned happened. “So what’s next now?” She looked at Tyson, “I’d like to carry on with my duties for as long as possible but I know James will want me to be resting as much as I can as well” she grinned.

"When things calm down for you Krysia and you get some much needed rest, we can then have a meeting with Lieutenant Smith. I assume you will want him involved in this pregnancy?" Tyson did not want to breach a patient - professional confidentiality.

"Of course!" Krysia nodded excitedly, "I want him to know everything"

"Good." Tyson smiled. He relaxed at the side of the bulk head in the medical bay, beside where Krysia was relaxing. "I have not had the opportunity to faciliate birthing of a human and drax newborn. We will take this slow. I will be reporting to Commander Nash to have you placed on a reduced work load, even though you may feel fine, this taxes a birthing mothers body. So this is important to remember Krysia to take it slow, easy and not to rush back to Operations." He crossed his arms, Tyson's eyes narrowed a bit while he watched Krysia.

Krysia opened her mouth to object before noticing the look Tyson was giving her, "Okay... you win but only as long as I can still do light duties. I'll go stir crazy sitting around in our quarters all the time"

"Now do you wish to know the babies sexes?"

"The sexes?" she paused for a moment, "I'd very much like to know once we reach the point where you can tell me that's if James agrees" she remembered that in the alternate timeline her baby was a girl but now it was all different, "I'll be happy either way as long as they are healthy."

Tyson nodded. He wanted to make this pregnancy as comfortable and easy as possible for Krysia and James. "Thats what we are here for." He gestured at his Medical Bay deck with all the latest in startfleet medical technology at disposal.

"So how many tests do you have in mind and when do you need to start them?" she grinned as she looked at Tyson.

"Wow! Thats Gnarly!" Tyson laughed. "I don't think I've had a medical patient actually enthusiastic about completing medical testing." He paused, holding his PADD to his chest. There were a number of tests that he would be starting on a weekly, monthly, basis and some testing daily.

"Since I have never had the chance of birthing a Drax child this will be my first. An honour."

"Test 2201-T9 works on the Drax bio chemical transitors. The transition of a human and Drax RNA components through the fetal stage can cause some problems. However, we are barely into Month 1, so we should be ok with some gene therapy. Let me have Nurse Doris work up a vial and I will check it over."

Krysia looked a little nervous, "If you're sure there's not going to be anything to harm my babies" she trusted Tyson but couldn't help but feel a little unsure.

"You should feel a bit drowsy. Let me know if you feel a bit dizzy as the 2201-T9 works on the neural amino acids of the body. You will be fine, and there will be nothing to harm the baby from the Drax gene therapy." He gave a reassured nod.

Krysia nodded, "Okay... so how long will the drowsiness last? will I need to stay here in sickbay?"

"You are free to go for now. I will need to see you almost every day for a little while." Tyson held the vial of drug "Just ensuring that things are going well for the Child." He smiled as he then nodded towards a general area, the side of Krysia's chest. Tyson then hyposprayed gently the area. "I am giving you a dose of sodium pypenthenol, which will help the morning sickness and drowsiness you experience."

"There will be of course cravings and various associations that come with birth." Tyson was doing his best. He was a wet behind the ears doctor with little baby birthing experience, however, can recite the starfleet exams with precision and maximum IQ.

Tyson smiled a bit excited. "Then we will have... I mean you will have your babies Krysia!"

Krysia couldn't help but grin at the cool exterior Tyson always gave off, she had to admit he made her feel at ease. She slid down off the biobed suddenly feeling extremely dizzy as she did so, trying to stabilise herself she managed to knock over a tray with quite a clatter making a nurse jump in the process moments later she doubled up in pain & collapsed onto the floor.

Reacting in lightning speed, seeing Krysia take a tumble to the side of the bio bed metal instrument cart. She looked hard to remain stable and with it. Tyson caught Krysia, and helped her up to the side of the bed again. Krysia's face looked flush and pale.

He frowned. He helped with Nurse Calihan another personal attendant, to lift Krysia ontop of the main bio bed. Tyson smiled and then lowered the temperature for Krysia. She was looking a little clamy. "Dr. Machewan will you come attend to Lt. Kaleri. She seems to be experiencing a drop in energy, 44 cc of glycoline, 3 cc sodium pethenolate."

Dr. Brookes looked at Krysia. Something was not right. Her metabilism numbers seemed to be under alot of stress.

Krysia was trying to stay awake but something was making it very hard for her to do so, she looked towards Tyson. "What's... happening?" she placed her hand on her stomach, "Are my... babies okay?"

"You need a QT boost shot." Tyson punched some numbers into the bio bed computer above Krysia's head. "A boost shot will fortify you blood with special protien antigens. However," He paused looking through the ships database of stored blood stocks, both bio and sythetic, "Hmnnnn..."

"What?" Krysia looked at Tyson concerned, "is there something wrong?"

"Krysia you are a rare blood type. Rare on this ship at least. You are RhD Negative which your body works in different ways to create those protiens I just mentioned. If the blood type creates less proteins, more proteins, or any combination of blood proteins this could be a problem for the baby."

Krysia felt like she had butterflies in her stomach "what does that mean?!"

"Please" Tyson stressed. "Your babies are in no way in any harm." He offered his collected thoughtful face, easy and calming with a slight reassured nod. "What the solution is like I said Quarterly booster shots of blood. We need to find a blood donor on the ship who is RhD Negative. Your baby will be a differrent blood type for their own metabolism, which is quite normal. Your childs blood type looks to be forming RhD Positive."

"RhD positive..." she sighed, "if it's that rare what does it mean for them? Will they need booster shots as well?"

"Your babies will not need injections of a QT shot, however, as birthing mother your children will need those specific antigen and proteins from your QT boostings, to ensure the babies will not become deficient in minerals, proteins etc."

Krysia nodded but couldn't help but feel concerned and it showed on the look on her face.

Tyson sat down on the bench beside Krysia. "How do you feel? Is the medication for the vertigo helping? I can give you another shot, it is about time." He looked at his silver chronograph wrist watch from the 1980s.

"Its better thank you" she offered a brief smile, "so how do we find someone whose the same blood type? what happens if there isn't anyone Tyson?"

"We can do a cbc workup of specific antigens and mimic a RhD Positive. However, I would rather we try and find someone with the type, it is worth the try." He nodded assured. He felt like placing a hand on her shoulder to reassure Krysia everything would be fine, but that may over stepping patient boundaries.

She nodded, "Can you let James know what's happened he'll be wondering where I am pretty soon."

"Of course." But he paused. He wanted Krysia to know that this was in no way a dangerous situation. Under care the process would be smooth, without medical attention there could be complications. "I want to stress to you Krysia," he added a calm smile. "Your children are growing fast and healthy. There is absolutely nothing out of the normal. We found an issue and we are identifying, working with that."

Tyson then tapped his badge =/\= Lieutenant Smith. Please report to the Medical Bay. =/\=

James was in the middle of reviewing duty reports and shift logs when the call came in from the doctor. Frowning a bit he finished up what he was doing. Hitting him combadge he said, “ I’m on my way.” Nodding to a young ensign he said, “Your in charge if anything comes up please contact Lieutenant Parrino.” Taking his leave he immediately headed to the Med Bay.

Krysia nodded and smiled she had faith in Tyson to take good care of both herself and her babies. It wasn’t long before James arrived in sickbay, the look on his face was one of concern when he saw her.

As the doors opened James saw Krysia laying on the biobed with Tyson next to her, as he approached them he said, “is everything ok, what going on.” Smiths heart was racing hoping that she and the baby were ok.

Krysia smiled as she looked at James trying to put his mind at rest “It’s okay... I had a bit of a funny turn but Tyson has been taking good care of me, there is something you need to know though” she looked at Tyson.

"Lieutenant Smith," Tyson noticed how anxious the officer was. "Krysia will be fine, her pregnancy is fine." Tyson did his best to reassure the patients significant other. "There has been an identification of mild concern. Krysia's blood type is incompatable with the emerging blood type of the foetus'."

Tyson typed on his PADD the infographics of Krysia's womb and the babies. He handed the PADD to Smith. "Krysia has a blood type, a rather rare blood type called RhD Negative. This type of blood lacks some of essential amino acids and building blocks for the babies to progress through to a healthy term."

Krysia looked at James, her concern was evident enough to see.

James looked at Krysia in just as much surprise as she had, as he was shown the readouts displaying twins before he frowned as the doctor was talking, “So what is the treatment that she will need?"

"The standard treatment is to collect RhD Positive from a donor onboard. I would them have the lab replicate and use the donation to create shots for Krysia to boost the foetus' development."

“Sounds good, but isn’t finding a donor going to be challenging finding a capatable donor would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.”

"The challenge would be finding that rare donor, certainly." He replied. "We have secondary synthetic methods, however a process ideal as finding a donor onboard the Pandora would be ideal." Tyson looked at both Krysia and James. "Point here is, we've reached a small hurtle. This is nothing incapable that modern medical technology cannot overcome. It is all in the method we choose. Your babies will grow up completely unaffected and very healthy." He gave his confident knowing look at James and Krysia. "What questions do you have for me?" He always allowed his patients to be involved in their active health and patient actions.

“Is there likely to be a donor aboard the ship?” Krysia looked at Tyson, “it’s most likely my Drax half causing the problems and I’m the only Drax onboard. Even if I asked Drax Prime for help I’m not sure how long it would take to get someone here.” she lay her head back down on the raised biobed all the worrying was giving her a headache.

"This is not worth a headache Krysia. I believe we may have a chance of all the varrying species on board, some humanoids who do not look Drax, but may have a century worth of regressive Drax amino and building blocks without even knowing their herritage. Since the star systems opened up for space faring cultures there can be traces of dna of mixed species without awareness."

"Would you care for a mild pain reliever Krysia?" He gestured to the hypo spray on the medical cart next to her bio bed.

"No it's fine" she smiled, "it's not that bad."

He furrowed his one eyebrow at her. "You lie pathetically." He snorted. He dangled the hypospray.

"I know I do but it's still a no" Krysia waved her hand.

Tyson then began to order a bunch of scans for the ship crew to identify any regressive gentic Drax donors which might be possible. He started as the ships manifest on the monitor screen showed up, and have begun its scan of the onboard sensors for most recent data. The hollow sorrow was seeing the patients, crewmembers who were on the list and currently highlighted in red. Tyson had no appetite to modify the manifest screen at this point.

"There's no one listed is there?" Krysia looked at Tyson and massaged her temples, "perhaps that pain reliever wouldn't be such a bad idea."

"A pain reliever and a sedative will not hurt you, you will feel relaxed Krysia." He then added in the dialation of the drug, and inserted the blue liquid, and glass vial into the hypo spray. He looked at James.

Krysia did her best to relax as Tyson pressed the hypo to her neck, it wasn't long until what he'd given her started to take effect, "actually I'm feeling pretty tired" she looked at James knowing he wouldn't mind her getting some sleep. "If you find anything..." she looked to Tyson.

Tyson nodded. "I will start working on the secondary alternative, it will be ready at a moments notice." He assured Krysia, everything is fine. She was an over protective mother which was completely understanding. Tyson didn't want this to be a period filled of anxiety for the Couple, and rather one of joy.

Nodding she smiled at James before closing her eyes, it wasn't long before she was drifting off nicely.

Doc Brookes watched to see the drug turn its effect, slowly calming and sedating Krysia. Her heart rate and anti stress enxymes slowly started to come down. Tyson gestured if James would follow him to his medical office.

Giving Krysia a quick kiss he followed the doctor to his office, looking back at her his heart was racing because he didn’t know what he would do if he lost her or his babies.

Once in his office, Tyson offered James a seat on the other end of his desk. He then ordered two cups of calming relaxing hot tea. With milk and a touch of sugar in each of Earl Grey. He sat down and handed the saucer and cup to James.

They sat for a moment resting, and then taking a drink. Tyson thought and then swallowed the hot liquid slowly. "I want you to know that Krysia will be completely ok. This pregnancy will go the same as any other. Except, the fact that there will be some extra booster shots as we discussed."

Taking a sip of his tea James looked at the doctor, “So these shots are safe for both of them, I know she’ll get the best care doctor, and I’ve already had one family taken from me I'd Hate to loose another.”

"I can understand your concern. She is your Wife, these are your babies. It would be the same if the tables were turned. I will need to have a sample of your blood and DNA as a check point for creating Krysia's shots."

Nodding James said, “Of course, please take what ever you need from me and if you need help getting blood samples please let me know.”

"What are your shifts? Krysia may need help administering the shots. He held his hands open.

“Usually I take the Alpha shift, but I can rotate out and change shifts as needed with my Assistant.” James looked at the doctor, “I’d be happy to help and give her the injections.”

He nodded. "That would be ideal. I believe you can handle the dosage and injection site locations. They need to be rotated." Tyson turned his computer terminal for him and Smith to view. "Here is your standard bio medical hypo spray kit." The screen showing the kit, and opening, and then the device attachments.

"I do not think you will need to re-arrange your scheduling then. 5 shots each 2 hours between a day." Tyson memorized the vital points.

Nodding his head as he listened to the doctor he said, “sounds simple. Any issues I should be aware of.”

"The main issue is the dosage. In our case, there is no drug, there is only a serum with pliable DNA nucleotide structures, again, the therapy that will be beneficial for the fetus." He paused allowing Lt. Smith to catch up on any questions.

“Is there any harm of overdosing, I don’t want to hurt Krysia or the babies.”

"Good question. No. There is no harm of overdose or incorrectly injection the hypospray for Krysia." He paused and pulled up the vial of the serum to be worked on by Medical Bay staff. "This vial will only hold .33 cc of dosage, not enough to create any response from the body in a negative way."

Smith felt relieved, “That’s good to hear Tyson.”

They both got up and stood in the office doorway, the automatic doors staying open as the two men watched back at Krysia on her Biobed as she rested gently.

Krysia stirred from her nap and smiled as she looked across to where James & Tyson were, she motioned for them to join her to save her shouting the question on her mind across sickbay. "I don't suppose there's any chance I can get out of sickbay & rest in our own bed is there?" she looked at Tyson.

Tyson looked at his silver wrist watch noting the time that had passed since he had given Krysia a sedative.

"I feel fine now just tired, I would much more prefer to be in our quarters than lay up in sickbay" she grinned, "there's nothing wrong with sickbay but my bed is a whole lot more comfortable than this one and I have the best pillow in the evenings" she looked at James and grinned.

He nodded. "Of course." He offered.

Helping her off the bed James said, “She’s in good hands, I’ll take her back to our quarters and make her comfy.”

Krysia smiled as she held onto James’ arm, “I promise I’ll rest Tyson”

"I can offer you a site to site medical transport if you wish?"

“Thanks for the offer Tyson, but I think we will manage, I appreciate the offer though.”

"I think I can manage" Krysia smiled at James, "I'd like to walk home"

"Alright. As you wish." He calmly watched the two then exit the Medical Bay. Then there was quietness. The sounds of computers going about endless scans and repeats.
