Mission: Death in Paradise
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: After “long road out of Eden”

Alexandra felt it's gonna take half an eternity to get through all these medical records, and get everything in order, functioning properly around here. This was her first assignment as Chief Medical Officer, and honestly, she didn't even know how and where to start. She felt so lost. As Assistant CMO, she learned quite much from Doctor Sintar, her department head on the Benecia - even though he was the strictest-minded Vulcan imaginable -, but now she felt she got thrown into the deep end.

First of all, she needed to make sure she got to know the members of her department, her assistant, and the various doctors and nurses around, and then, familiarize herself with all the medical going-ons aboard, including the various illnesses and conditions certain crewmembers might have. For that reason, she decided to sort through some of the medical files in the computer, to see if there's anything urgent she should take care of. She found the name of a certain Lieutenant Krysia Kaleri among those records, apparently the Chief Counselor on board. She was due for a small checkup, which gave Alex the chance to meet the woman and discuss the details of her 'condition'. So, she asked if Lt. Kaleri can visit her in her newly-found little ruiling palace, aka sickbay.

The doctor was sitting at her desk, sorting through all those records, while whistling the tune of a traditional Brazilian folk song, her parents taught her as a child, a long long time ago.

Krysia arrived at Sickbay a short time later. The health of the twins was important to her so she wanted to keep on top of her appointments. Walking into Sickbay she smiled as she saw a new face. "Docto Alves? I'm Krysia Kaleri."

Alex stood up, when she saw the dark-haired woman walking in, and approached her. "That's me. The one and only.", she smiled and offered her hand, "Nice to meet you, Ms. Kaleri."

"Likewise" Krysia smiled. "I believe your message said you wanted me in for a check up. I'm all yours or should I say we are all yours!" She grinned.

"Ah, yes.", the doctor grinned warmly, as she looked at her visitor's growing belly, indicating a twin pregnancy, just as the Lieutenant's file told her. "Please, make yourself comfortable.", she indicated the nearby biobeds, "I need to find a tricorder. I feel so completely lost in my New sickbay.", she admitted with a gentle smile.

"Just over there" Krysia pointed to where the tricorders were while she hopped up onto a biobed. "It's nice to have another female doctor in Sickbay, no offence to the male doctors of course!" She smiled warmly at Alexandra.

"Oh, I know exactly what you're going through now.", Alex said, as she went to pick up a tricorder, "But believe me, these are the best times, actually.", she added with a joking smile, "From kindergarten age onwards, they start to believe they know everything in the universe the best, and you're just an old, out-of-fashion nuisance put on their shoulders."

“I know” Krysia smiled but her smile faded a little for a moment. “Sorry...maybe I should explain something incase I ever bring it up. The bridge officers recently had a....period of time trapped in a bubble, our consciousnesses made us believe we’d been there for a lifetime. During that time I had a children and a grandchild before I died!” She gave Alexandria a whimsical look. “It felt so real...it still feels real. For a while it felt like my world had come crashing down but now...” she smiled again. “I have two little ones to start us off!”

The doctor raised a curious eyebrow when her colleague mentioned the ship's recent encounter with a strange phenomenon. Life must be exciting out here on the frontier. "Oh, well...", she reacted, as she stepped towards the biobed, tricorder in hand, "I'm pretty sure those two will give you the adventure of a lifetime.", she smiled, then added with a laugh, "I only have one, but it often feels like if I had to deal with an entire little army."

“I guess I’ll find out” Krysia smiled warmly. “Have you had a chance to catch up on my medical records? It seems I have a rare blood type or something along those lines, the difficult part is I’m the only Drax hybrid onboard and one of few outside our own system. Plus my fiancé is Human with a touch of Betazoid in his genes so that kind of makes the twins a Human/Drax with a touch of Betazoid which is quite some mix!

"Ah, yes, yes, I had.", Alex replied, realizing that, in fact, they were here to do a medical checkup and discuss the Lieutenant's condition, "That's why I asked you here, in fact.", she explained, then nodded with a slight smile, "Indeed quite a mix. Excuse me for saying this, but the Drax are not exactly known for their habit of blending with other cultures."

"No they don't and I'm one of very few Drax half-breeds. The only reason I'm here is because I wanted to get to know my human family. Commander Nash is my half-brother." She smiled warmly, "It's a long story so I won't bore you with it."

"I'm pretty sure, it's quite an interesting story.", the doctor smiled back with a gentle nod. She hasn't met Commander Nash yet, but she was sure, she'll get to know him soon. "Have you experienced any problematic symptoms recently?", she then asked, as she hovered the tricorder over the woman's belly.

"With the exception of morning sickness making me feel somewhat off colour, no I can't say I have." She looked at Alexandra concernedly. "I take it everything is okay?"

"You know, in fact, morning sickness is actually a positive thing.", Alex said, "Usually, it indicates that the baby is healthy. So, no worries." She took a few tricorder readings, then replied, "It seems, everything is fine at the moment."

Krysia breathed a sigh of relief she did it at every appointment. "That's good. I was originally told I was only having one baby until a more recent scan run by Aeryn showed two babies!" She grinned like a Cheshire Cat. "My fiancé James is over the moon about it as am I. I've been using the hypo's Doctor Brooke's left that he developed for my blood incompatibility but I know it's a limited supply. He did say he'd need to sort a more permanent solution ideally using a Drax donor but we're too far from Drax for that and he didn't find anyone aboard compatible."

"I can imagine!", she grinned happily, "Now it's double the fun." She listened through Krysia's expalantion of the current situation with the blood incompatibility and the prescribed drug, and nodded. "I've read some of my predecessor's reports on the subject.", she said, "We'll need to take some additional tests, but I'm sure, we can come up with a permanent solution."

"Really?" Krysia smiled the biggest smile yet as she looked at Alexandra. "Am I glad to hear that!"

"As I said, we need to work together to find the solution.", the doctor replied, trying no to ruin the woman's giant enthusiasm, "But I believe, there's a certain chance we can find it.", she explained, "I've done some research on similar cases in the past." It was many years ago, and not exactly a thorough research, but still, she was hopeful.

Krysia nodded. "I understand. I'd like to help any way I can, just let me know what you want me to do."

"Alright.", Alex nodded in agreement, then, she hesitated for moment, before speaking up in a quite different matter, "Lieutenant... I'd also like to ask your professional help... in a... matter."

"By all means Doctor" Krysia sat on the edge of the biobed. "Is it something you can give me an idea about now or would you like to talk more privately another time?"

"Right. We can discuss it now.", the doctor said, still a bit unsure how to phrase this, "It's about my daughter, Veronica.", she elaborated, "You know, having to adapt to a whole new environment, leaving all her friends and the place she lived in most of her life behind... It's understandably hard for her. And she seems depressed over the whole situation."

"I can understand that" Krysia nodded. "Right now she could use some new friends and there are other children aboard the ship. The two of you have only just come aboard so perhaps take some time with your daughter, explore the ship and what it has to offer. Give her the time she needs to adjust and if it doesn't seem to be improving just give me a call."

"Yes, yes.", Alexandra agreed, "I'm thinking about, maybe we can organize some sort of gathering or welcome party where she could meet the local kids, and get to know them.", she said, trying to come up with a solution, "Or even a friendly soccer game. I brought along all her favorite holodeck soccer programs."

"That could be a good idea" Krys smiled and nodded. "I can't say when would be the best time though, probably once we leave the station."

"Probably.", she nodded in agreement, "Anyways, I know, she'll adapt soon, but I'm still worried. But I guess, most parents are like that.", she said with a slight laugh, "You'll be just the same. Believe me."

"I already am!" Krysia smiled. "Guess it comes with being pregnant. My fiancé James has already lost a wife and child under horrific circumstances so I want to make sure that everything goes okay.

Alex didn't know how to react to that. It was horrible, losing a wife and a child, but it seemed, the man has finally found happiness once again. "I'm sorry to hear that.", she said in an empathic tone, "Believe me, everything will go okay."

Krysia nodded as she stood ready to leave. "Thank you. Just remember if you should need me just give me a call." She smiled warmly.

"I will. Definately.", the doctor nodded, returning the warm smile, "Let me take a few days until this whole situation, the mission and all, winds down a little, and I manage to get myself aquainted with my new position.", she then said, then switching to a more casual, less official tone, "In the meantime, how about a cup of coffee or a drink the othe day? You can bring James along as well. I'd definately like to meet your fiancé."

TAG/WRAP? :)

OOC: Feel free to post it if you like the meeting hasn't gone up yet so Krys is free :)

OOC: Okay. We can wrap it up, but let's wait with posting it until my thread with the Captain is posted. :)
