Mission:
Death in Paradise
Location: Paradise Station
Timeline: Current
Krysia had spent what felt like forever wondering around getting a general feeling for the marketplace, one thing was for sure none of the market traders she spoke to were willing to give up the location of the children which in some ways was a good thing. Unfortunately it made her job of trying to find the children all the harder. She was sitting having a rest at one of the many eateries along the length and breadth marketplace when a familiar face appeared.
“Glad to see you’re resting” Aeryn smiled as she walked over to Krysia. “Mind if I join you?”
“Not at all” Krys smiled as she motioned to any of the empty seats. “There’s plenty of room take your pick. I’ve been walking about round here for ages so I thought I’d stop and have a break.” She smiled politely as a waiter arrived carrying a large hot chocolate complete with cream and marshmallows on top.”
“Now that looks good” Aeryn grinned and ordered herself one as well. “Just watch your calorie intake while you’re pregnant, I know you’re eating for three but you don’t want to be piling on weight that you’ll find hard to lose afterwards.” She grinned.
“I know” Krys grinned. “I can have a treat every now and again besides Drax are fortunate in that we find losing weight comparatively easy compared to some species, something to do with the Drax metabolism. Although being half Human will probably change that somewhat.
“Hard to say” Aeryn smiled nodding politely as the waiter came back with her hot chocolate. “How are you getting on over here?”
“To be honest....” She lowered her voice to keep their conversation as private as possible. “The market traders are completely distrustful of any strangers especially when it comes to the children, they’re not willing to give me any information although I know the children are definitely here. They know this place better than any of us and they use that knowledge to their greatest advantage in staying hidden.”
“I guess if we put ourselves in their places we’d probably be doing the same.” Aeryn sat back and sipped her drink trying not to get cream all over her mouth and nose in the process. “Lost on a big station like this, no parents and being hunted by the station guards and now strangers from a ship that’s just arrived.”
Krys nodded. “I know, it must be terrifying!” She sipped her own drink as she put her feet up on another chair. “I just wish they’d give me a chance to talk to them! It’s not like I’d be able to drag them both out of here, the market traders would soon step in to defend them. I just wanted to be able to tell them about the ship, maybe Katya would allow us to ferry them off the station or something?”
“I don’t know Krys” Aeryn shrugged her shoulders. “We don’t have a lot of time left here and we certainly don’t have time to be searching for their parents. Maybe Katya has an idea where their parents might be.”
“I’m not even sure that I....” Krysia paused and dropped her voice to a whisper. “...even trust Katya. I didn’t even get chance to learn a backstory from the prisoner they had me talk to. It makes me suspicious of their motives.”
“Let’s just be careful okay?” Aeryn looked around. “You’ve been poking around here on your own maybe you should wait for Cailus to catch you up just to be safe, after all there’s not just you to think about there’s the twins too.”
Krysia nodded as she looked around taking in their surroundings. “I guess you’re right it’d be pretty easy for people to disappear here especially with it being such a busy place. Although I don’t think they’d risk members of the Federation vanishing here but who knows!”
Aeryn nodded as she finished off her hot chocolate. “I don’t know about you but I think that was absolutely delicious!!” She grinned as she looked around.
Finishing off her own drink Krysia nodded in agreement. “I completely agree, it’s a good job we’re not here for long or I’d be back for another!” She grinned. “I’m going to sit here for a little while longer before I get back to the search, if I don’t have any luck then I’ll return to the ship and try again another time.”
“Well like I said...” Aeryn stood ready to leave. “Just be careful.”
“Always” Krys smiled and nodded. “I’ll see you back onboard ship later on.”
Aeryn nodded and headed on her way, she wanted to finish off a little shopping for herself before heading back to the ship.
