Movie night

Mission: Death in Paradise
Location: Aeryn's Quarters
Timeline: Current

Aeryn was finishing off putting the final touches to the living area of her quarters for her movie night with John. The coffee table was covered with drinks and snacks including buckets of popcorn, the sofa was covered with a cosy fleecy blanket with more fleecy blankets to throw over and there were faux fur cushions as well making it extra cosy and soft. The temperature of the room was just right and she was wearing a comfortable lacy nightdress test she thought John would appreciate later on in the evening. She was just getting the movie choice ready when the door chime rang, she'd felt him coming thanks to their bond. "Come in John!"

The door slid open permitting John to enter. He came dressed comfortably, in a simple black tee-shirt and khaki pants, the same pants he wore on their first dinner together. Cane in hand, he walked up to the sexily-dressed Aeryn and gave her a gentle peck on the lips. "Good evening to you," he said.

“Good evening to you too handsome” Aeryn returned his kiss. “So what do you think?”

"It looks like you have everything all organized," John observed. "Popcorn, drinks, blankets. A hot date. The perfect movie date night."

“Is there anything I’ve missed?” She looked around.

“I don’t think so.”

“I found a movie I thought you’d like. It’s got plenty of war time action for you and romance for me!” She grinned.

John returned her smile. “You understand me so well.” He hated violence in real life, but somehow loved watching battle sequences in holodramas or movies. When done accurately, it was like history coming to life. “What’s this one called?”

“Not a clue!” She grinned rifling for the movie box to show him what she chose. “Here it is..” she handed the box to him to have a look.

John took the case from her, impressed that she was truly making this an authentic experience. She found an old movie, replicated it onto a storage medium shaped like a disc, and also replicated a machine to read the disc and transmit it to a screen.

He read the box and grinned. Tension in the Stars. Not a great title, but a familiar one. “Oh I’ve heard of this!” John exclaimed. “It’s set at the start of the Earth-Romulan War! It’s like fifty years old, from before holodramas became more popular. I’ve not seen it, but one of my old classmates did a paper on it. It’s really realistic!”

“Then I guess it gets the thumbs up from you then!” She grinned.

“Why don’t you get it started, and I’ll get as comfortable as you are,” he said with a wink, passing her the case. He set his cane down, pulled his shirt over his head, and stripped his lower layer to his boxers. He sat on the couch and sank into the comfortable pillows, cushions, and blankets.

Aeryn put the movie ready before turning to look at John sitting in his boxers. “Hmmm very nice!” She grinned as she sat down beside him and made herself comfortable. “Computer lower lights” As the movie started she grabbed a tub of popcorn for them to share and cuddled up in the cosy blankets.

John wrapped an arm around her, smiling as she and the blankets warmed him. The movie began and he started eating the delicious, buttery popcorn. The lead actor and actress were among the best from their era and John could see why. And they were gorgeous, too. He was in bliss, gently stroking his girlfriend’s skin with one hand, eating popcorn with the other.

Aeryn was enjoying being cuddled up to the love of her life, the film was entertaining and very well acted. The love story between the two main characters was very stirring, especially the romance scenes which stirred Aeryn’s heart too. She smiled at John as their hands met in the popcorn tub at the same time, her fingers gently trailing over his for a few moments before she let him withdraw his hand and carry on eating.

Keep watching the movie, John, he thought to himself. Your dates with Aeryn always end with lovemaking. This one will too. But it can wait until the movie is over. But the movie didn’t help his cause, as a particularly racy love scene, shortly before the leading lady was going on a dangerous mission, came up next. He began to sweat as Aeryn held him close.

Aeryn could feel John’s emotions start to rev up as they watched the movie, she had to admit it was having the same effect on her especially as John’s hand was starting to move along her leg in a rather enticing fashion. She couldn’t help but give him some tempting leeway underneath the blanket whilst returning the favour as she placed her hand on his leg too.

John ate the last of the popcorn as the movie reached its end. Credits rolled and he continued to lounge comfortably. He found a button on a console within reach and turned off the monitor. Its illumination off, John and Aeryn lay in complete darkness. He continued to gently stroke her thigh, unconvinced she was awake.

Aeryn's hand slowly started running ever higher up John's leg whilst her legs under the cover separated to give John more room for his hand. A contented yet pleasured sigh escaping Aeryn's lips.

John made no effort to move. His breath quickened as her hand went up his thigh, as did hers when she shifted for him. Not every night needed to end the same way, though most still ended in play. After no small amount of mutual pleasure, John fell asleep on the sofa contented and happy.

Aeryn smiled as she cuddled up to John, happy and content to sleep on his shoulder.



It was the ship’s comm system that stirred them awake. “This is Captain Temple speaking. I know we've all been looking forward to returning to Federation space, but we've just received orders to answer an urgent distress call in the Hesiod system. Starfleet Command won't tell us what we're going to find, or who we're even looking for. It's a top secret mission and we will be going deeper into the Expanse than ever before. We will need to avoid Alrakis Pact detection to get there. I know this is a crew of deeply dedicated and capable officers, and we are up to the challenge. I know we will perform our duties with integrity and haste, which is why I have no doubt Starfleet has entrusted us to this task. Remember that. Temple out."

John yawned and gently shook Aeryn’s shoulder to make sure she was awake. “I think it’s time I checked in in my department,” he said. “I should go back to my place to clean up and get into uniform.”

Aeryn stretched and yawned. "Alright Imzadi. I was looking forward to getting to spend more time with you on shoreleave but I guess that's not going to happen now!" She sighed. "When are Starfleet going to let this crew get a rest!?"

“No idea. But I guess that scuttles my plans to go to that conference,” John answered. He slowly stood and found his shirt and pants. He began to explain himself. “I was hoping to go with Manu — sorry, Ensign Larose — to a conference on Starbase 310 about what to do next about the Breen. Academics, civilian diplomats, and Starfleet diplomats were all invited, and few of my old university friends will be there, and I was hoping to see them. Oh well. Next time.”

"I didn't have any specific plans but it would have been nice to have the break. I had been giving consideration to asking Krysia out on a shopping trip to get some baby things but I guess that'll have to wait now too." She sighed. "Let's hope this'll be a straightforward mission."

John nodded. “I imagine that we’ll have a senior staff meeting soon. I’ll share what I learn.” He finished dressing and picked up his cane. “I’m off then.” He leaned in close and planted a gentle kiss on Aeryn’s lips. “I’ll see you soon?”

"Of course you will" Aeryn returned his kiss just as gentle and caring. "I don't plan on sleeping alone tonight you know." She smiled warmly.

"Oh?" John said, a bemused smile on his face. "Who will you be sleeping with then?" He knew she could sense he was kidding, but he wondered how far he could push a little joke.

“Oh now...wouldn’t you like to know?” Aeryn grinned as she looked at him before wrapping her arms around him. “You know I only have eyes for you!”

He returned her smile, communicated his feelings with another kiss, and then extricated himself from her hug. “Sorry, I really can’t be late. See you later, Aeryn!” With that, he retrieved his cane and left her room.
