The sizeable Medical Deck on the USS Pandora is equipped for the most comprehensive of medical interventions and crisis aboard a starship. After ten years of study and practice within Federation Academy and various positions aboard prior vessels ensured Tyson had the most confident ability to serve the crew of the USS Pandora.

Tyson had his meetings with the Assistant Chief of Medical, Lieutenant JG Adaestron, and Crewman Tannis. Both of the crewmen seemed quite impressive and keen on Medical Department rules. He would have continued meetings throughout this week regarding changes to the department, and operational headings that Lt. Brookes didn’t seem to work for him.

From his office to the side of the main entrance Tyson looked to see a familiar face. “Yo, Lt. Kaleri…” He got up from his glass-enclosed office and computer. Dressed down, wearing his pair of Khaki Shorts, along with a worn Billy Idol T-Shirt.

“Come on in!” He cracked his knuckles and leaned back into his office chair by his computer.

Krysia had spent a restless night in her quarters, the stresses of settling into a new role aboard a new ship were proving to be more of a problem than she'd anticipated. Her head was pounding and she was having a hard time keeping her senses under control. Remembering her chat with Tyson aboard the Palatine she'd decided it was time to seek his medical opinion.

"Hi Doc" she offered a smile as she walked into Tyson's office, "Are you up for a challenge?"

Tyson sensed that she had seemed stressed.“Have a chair, what can I do?" He absentmindedly pulled for his white-ruled lined paper.

"Do you mind?" He gestured to his medical tricorder, pulling it out of his cargo short pocket, Tyson then began a scan of Kaleri's biomarkers and stats.

"It's fine" she nodded, "I've got a headache to beat all headaches and I can't sleep" she paused wondering whether to mention the problems she was having with her abilities. She trusted Tyson but she had concerns she'd be taken off active duty.

"Since you had come aboard you felt this heightened anxiety and uncomfortableness of your position of higher responsibility." Tyson had repeated what he had heard. "What we say here is between a doctor and their patients onboard." He assured as he looked at his pad of paper to draw thoughts.

"I worry about being in a position of responsibility" she nodded, "but it's something I'll get used to in time."

"Well," he punched up a few numbers on the tricorder, something that had taken Tyson to learn in only a year. The device was insanely wicked.

Within a few moments, he was able to check the Lieutenants vitals. "You are showing some signs of a heightened immune suppressed response; your cortisol enzymes elevated. Elevated cortisol would explain not being able to sleep and maybe the headaches…" Tyson set down the tricorder, turning at his desk to his computer accessing Kaleri’s medical file.

“There are different types of therapy available. One of the most effective and least intervention is Neurotherapy and neuro amino peptide suppressants of overstimulated stress regions of the brain cortex. It is natural therapy for the neural brain stressors.” “Of course there is physical exercise, which would be just as natural. Have you tried exercise, a good workout, or activity is enough to wear out the brain as to not worry so much.” He had sounded like some medical preacher. "What do you think?"

"I think it sounds sensible" she nodded, "but I don't think it's going to be that easy..."

Brookes nodded. "Not everything can be a mental intervention."

"Apart from the fact that my head hurts..." she grinned a wry grin, "it's not just the job that's causing it, I'm having problems aclimatising to my new environment."

"The empathic emotions."

"What I mean is..." she paused to think how to word it, "for telepaths & empaths in order to stay sane you have to be able to switch off what you're sensing to tuck it away in a corner of your mind and close a mental door around it to hold it back, if you can't do that..." she massaged her temples, "it's an eternal flood of thoughts and feelings that you can't control and can't get rid of. It's like you're... drowning and if you can't stop it then you lose yourself to it." she looked up at Tyson as she took a deep breath and regained some control of herself.

Tyson turned to his doctor like thinking state. He tapped his pen on his notebook on the table... "What if I refer you to see Dr. Richmond the ships Counsellor. The Psychologist would be more adept in dealing with empath and telepath issues."

"That’s a good idea..” she grinned, “Let's just say if I don't get a handle on it you'll have a completely insane patient to study!" she shook her head, "it's been taking me longer and longer to adjust lately I just refused to believe it would be a problem until now. Plus I've got to know a nice Doctor that I trust to help me, all I ask is you don't take me off active duty I don't want to be sitting around in my quarters doing nothing."

Tyson let a slight smile form. "Don't worry we won't let you sit in your quarters. I am glad you had come to me, and let me know what you are dealing with. Would you like me to refer you to see the ships Counsellor? I will still be here to help you with your headaches, which I believe are stress induced. It would make sense from what you have described Lt. Kaleri."

“I think that’s a good idea” Krysia smiled at Tyson, “I think our counsellor would be the next logical person to see, she might come up with something I haven’t thought of. In the meantime any ideas for a restful night’s sleep?”

"I do have a slight neural inhibitor. It is used mainly for blocking brain, pain and trauma pathways. It works well with PTSD and Anxiety suffers. This would be beneficial, rather than a blanket pain reliever."

Krysia paused for a moment before nodding in agreement, “I’ll agree to that for use for sleeping only, I don’t like feeling isolated. Being without my abilities makes me feel that way but if it gives me a good nights sleep then I’ll do it.”

"I do think that we can explore alot of options. There is some anti stress programs on the ships holodeck that are highly regarded by the medical association." He wrote down some information.

"Sounds interesting" Krysia smiled.

"And for this prescription, I'd like you to try this minimal neural inhibitor for only two nights. If you find your not getting help from it, then we will try something different." Tyson stated as he arched his back up tall sitting in his seat, he always tried to keep good posture.

"Agreed" she nodded, "do I need to be monitored so you get readings direct or do I just report to you in a couple of days?"

"The ships computer should be able to keep a running check on your bio status." He replied.

"Just remember. Only two days or I will find you!....." He paused thinking through this 'prescription' for a neural dissorder, or temporary nervous psy disorder. This was not a typical clinical case for Tyson. "And ONLY at bed time... Not during the day."

"Agreed" Krysia smiled as she stood to leave, "thank you for your help it's much appreciated"

Tyson nodded "I hope it helps Lieutenant."
