Katniss was having an unsettled night, she had tossed and turned and was now laid on her back staring at the ceiling. It had been several days since her dream, but it was still niggling away in the back of her mind. After everything that had happened recently, what she had experienced and felt and undergone. The Pandora was her home, she had settled in but she was still keeping people at arm's length. The darkness inside was still slowly consuming her, her little girl was right, the dream was right, she had to let go, she needed to let go and embrace the friendliness around her, her own company wasn't going to be enough.

She finally sat up in bed, she was going to slowly work through this, address what needed addressing, but for now, all she needed was a good night's sleep and as a medical doctor she knew just what would help and the perfect place to get what she needed would be sickbay. But first she would have to get changed into her uniform, she wasn't one for wandering around in her night things.

-Sickbay, ten minutes later-

The doors to sickbay opened and Katniss slowly walked in, she glanced around, the lights were dimmed at a lower level as would be expected at this time of the morning, a nurse was attending to some patients and Katniss wasn't sure she had heard her come in, but she wouldn't disturb the nurse at the moment. The light to the CMO's office was on, but the office was empty, she smiled as she entered the office, in some ways, she did miss it and with and with no one looking, she went behind the desk and sat in the chair, a large smile across her face, this certainly brought back memories.

...Two patients were in the sick bay today. The first patient was Ensign Harrison. Harrison was skydiving on the holodeck and ended up experiencing a bout of vertigo and rendezvousing with an Archeon shrub on Deneb IV. Patient number two were Lieutenant Sarah Fraiser a Science lab technician. Sarah suffered morning sickness this Tuesday and was concerned that she was having sharp pains in her rib.

Brookes had ensured Lieutenant JG Adaestron monitor the patients. Both Medical officers had a long day, while the department had to disinfect toxemia related to damaged seals in a medical cargo locker. That was not fun it was “… one of the worst smells I have ever had enters my nostril!” Tyson complained.

Thus, having had slipped away to the ship's canteen and back to the sick bay with three bagels toasted, low-fat cream cheese, and butter. Along with three XL DD drive-thru style coffees complete in 1988 paper cups and plastic lids. “It just feels right.” He took a drink having bent open the top to chug some of the caffeinated sweet doses.

Lieutenant JG Brookes entered his office he held the tray and packaged bagels. “Please! Take it. Take this office from me. This place… is a never-ending nightmare!” Tyson sarcastically greeted Katniss.

“Never seen you before……. Lieutenant…. Kat….niss Wakefield.” He paused categorizing, recalling memory while observing the face of the female intruder.

Katniss instinctively jumped out of his chair, while giving a gentle smile "Lieutenant will suffice, but I prefer Doctor Wakefield and I haven't come for your office, I've just come to borrow some of your medication." she said unfamiliar with the man stood infront of her.

“Medication.” Tyson set down the coffees and bagel at the table.

“Doctor?” He was confused. As far as he was concerned, there was only him, and Adaestron as the senior Medical staff onboard the Pandora.

Bemused by request for his medication. Tyson then slowly sat back into the guest chair on the other side of the Medical Department desk.

“Number one.” He reached forward into the brown bag, pulling out a wrapped, covered bagel warm, and toasted. The breakfast was a much-needed boost of energy for him. “Medication is prescribed onboard all Federation vessels according to a predetermined set of criteria and patchwork, traceable and identifiable. Second.” He did not sound preaching, but a matter of factly “As this ships sole Doctor in charge of this Department I am /the/ Doctor.” He somewhat was a bit off-putting.

“What is your major of study in medicine?” Brookes then passed forward the bagel in the brown bag towards Katniss. “Please, join me for breakfast. We can discuss the medication you are looking for.” He forced a tired, firm smile and then his eyes went for the caffeine. “Coffee?” He gestured to one of the tall paper cups with a plastic lid.

"Well that has certainly put me in my place" Katniss replied gently rebuking his offer for breakfast. "I am the ships Research Officer but prior to that I was a medical doctor. I'm fully qualified and know just as much as if not more than yourself." She gently stated with a raised eyebrow, she didn't want to go into her problems with someone she didn't know and after his introduction, she knew she wasn't going to get the medication she needed without an explanation. "Anyway Doctor, I shall leave you to your breakfast, after all it's the most important meal of the day, don't worry about the medication, I'll cope without."

With that, she gave a slight smile and a little sigh, she really wasn't going to get any rest. She patted the headrest of his chair "All yours" as she got ready to leave his office.

Tyson furrowed an eyebrow. He was simply stating that he was not about to hand out powerful medication without a full knowledge of the request. He would be charged liable for anything if he had hurt someone if the drugs were not used in the manner of accordance.

"Please tell me. When you were Doctor onboard this starship you would not hand out medication in a manner that negated study of the situation?" He had hoped she wouldn't have. "Please sit down. Let's talk about what is bothering you, I want to help." He sincerely was concerned. This crew member he had no knowledge of, had come into his office sat down, and then rebuffed him when he was asked for medication and then was about to be walked out on.

"I am just confused is all."

Katniss stood still for a moment, her back to him "I wasn't a Doctor on this ship. I was just stating that I am a Medical Doctor as well as a Researcher" she replied before turning her head "And thank you for your concern Doctor, but I have little need of your help, I'll manage on my own, perhaps I'll try the Alpha-wave inducer again. Enjoy your breakfast." she said teasing him as she headed towards the exit.

He got up from his desk, he was tired of this. "Well clearly you're not a practicing physician with privileges on this ship, so... either you tell me what's going on or there won't be any medications authorized." *holds up a hand* "And if I find out you've overridden any of the replicator systems or otherwise obtained medications without authorization, because I'll remind you, Doctor, that self-prescribing is illegal in Starfleet, I'll relieve you of duty faster than you can say 'backward 20th century man.'"

Katniss didn't stop, she calmly headed towards the exit and the doors opened, then she paused for a moment. "Understood." She simply replied before again starting to walk, the doors closing behind her.

'Well, that could have gone better.' She thought to herself as she pondered on what to do next. Perhaps a walk would calm her down. After all, it was about time she got to know the ship better.

Tyson walked through the door and down the hallway after Katniss. The last thing he had wanted was to upset someone already upset by something, whatever it was. He swallowed and shook his head, he set his water bottle down and then asked the computer where Katniss was. He broke into a jog down the Pandora hallway, and making a left, and then another left, and then up a deck, he had finally caught up with Katniss.

"Can we find somewheres to talk." He was out of breath. "Look. I am sorry. I know... I just know there is something we need to discuss, I will help you with your medication, I just need to understand." He broke into an 'im really sorry look and half a forced smile'...

Katniss was stood looking out into the vastness of space, "It's been awhile since someone has chased me down" she said giving the Doctor the chance to catch his breath "I suspect too many bagels for breakfast." she joked as she really hadn't gotten that far.

Lieutenant Wakefield was more receptive to talk this time.

"I appreciate your sentiment Doctor and your concern, but you know they always say Doctors make the worse patients. You have probably done me a favour anyway, as medication to help one sleep isn't always the answer. Lately I haven't found any solace in my dreams, they have been more nightmares than anything else, so why I would want to subject myself to that, but then again the human body is frail, it needs its rest." she replied as she turned and slowly began to walk "Care to walk? if you can keep up." she gestured.

Taking a walk along with Katniss, he was one to listen. She knew the grasp well of what she was dealing with, Katniss was smart about it. "How long have you been self-medicating yourself?" He had a hunch.

Katniss glanced over at him "Self-medicating." she said shaking her head "I haven't...I don't" she replied giving him an unapproving look. "I simply know what medication I would prescribe to the patient if they were having chronic sleep issues, hence why I popped in to borrow some of your medication," she explained showing her logic. "Follow me," she said leading the doctor to her quarters, she wanted to show him the item she had just hung up.

After a few minutes, they were at the doors to Katniss quarters, "Don't worry doctor, I just want to show you something I have hung up on the wall." she said the doors to her quarters opened.

Tyson nodded, his arms at the side of his waist expectant.

She felt his uneasiness, after all, to be in the quarters of someone you just met. "Computer lights," she said as the illumination sprang to full, there on the wall, hung in all its glory was what she wanted the Doctor to see.

He viewed the article. The document was, of course, the Hippocratic Oath.

"Yes, it is, an original piece of Hippocratic Oath, something we have both sworn to. As I said before I don't self-medicate, I simply knew what medication I was after. It's been days since I've managed to get a decent sleep, I feel tired and exhausted and for once, I just wanted a restful night, without the fear of nightmares, my issues are my own and I don't like to go into my history of personal affairs with someone whom I do not know, trust is something that is earned and not given freely." she said.

"I want you speaking with the counsellor." Tyson paused. "If you are not already. There is something here and I don't know... I don't know about it all. I need to speak to some colleagues. As the sole Medical Doctor on this Starship that is in charge of opening that medicine cabinet, I need to know it all." He furrowed his eyebrow. "I don't care if your trust is earned by me or not. I care about you, and I care about federation prescription laws, I don't want to see charges brought forth against a non-compliance."

"I already see the counsellor doctor, but thank you for your concern," she said a stern look on her face. "Well as I'm not going to be able to sleep, I may as well go do some work in my Lab," she said with a smile as she ushered the Doctor out of her quarters back into the corridor. "You never know what one might discover at this time of the morning, plus I'll be able to get some paperwork done."

Tyson shook his head for the moment and then noted that he would have to be speaking with the Counsellor.

"I hope you have a productive morning, Doctor," Katniss replied as she smiled and headed off towards her lab and with that, she began to fade into the distance as Tyson stood there pondering on his own thoughts about what had just happened.
