A Mission Post by Lieutenant Krysia Kaleri & Lieutenant James Smith
Mission: Divided We Fall
Location: James & Krysia’s Quarters
Timeline: 7 Months after the loss of deck 3

Krysia was busy doing her duties after the loss of deck 3, 7 months ago she’d felt she had to carry on hoping that perhaps they'd get home, she was 7 months into what would be for 8 months for a Drax pregnancy and her bump felt like a ten ton weight, Nyx had ordered that she work until her 7th month so this would be her final shift until after the birth of the baby. James had been extremely attentive to her every need since she'd been pregnant and that was one of many reasons she loved him, it was also the reason she hadn’t told him that her water had broken that morning so far she’d managed the slight labour pains she had but they were starting to take their toll and it was starting to show.

Smith walked in and smiled and said “ Hi”. Looking at her he could tell she was doing to much and it concerned him.

"Hi yourself" Krysia did her best to smile as James stood beside her, "you’re worried I'm doing too much aren’t you?"

Smith nodded as he squeezed her hand, and said, “yes I’m worried. Let’s get you back to our quarters you really need to take it easy.”

"I'll be fine..." she winced as her head pounded and she almost fainted, if it hadn't been for James she'd have been in a heap on the floor. The poor lieutenant with medical experience who'd been looking after her pregnancy had mentioned concerns about her blood pressure several times and the labour pains she was experiencing didn’t help "... perhaps you’re right, I'm not feeling so good anymore..." she held onto James' arm as he led her slowly back to their quarters once inside she finally showed just how she was really feeling as she doubled up in pain, “I didn’t say anything earlier but... my water broke this morning... I didn’t want to worry you.”

Smith hit his com badge “ LT Louis medical emergency, the baby is coming and I don’t think we are going to make it to the temporary sickbay.” Smith carried her to the bed and tried to make her comfortable. Looking around his heart was beating out of control. Looking back at their door, “Where is the Lieutenant?”

“James...” Krysia held out her hand, “I’m sorry I should.... have said something, I promised you everything would be okay...” she squeezed his hand tightly as a wave of pain came & went, “Just don’t leave me!”

Smith held onto her hand and replied “I’m not going anywhere.”

The Lieutenant entered the quarters witnessing the patient laying on the bed. Louis unlocked his medical kit, withdrawing his medical tricorder and beginning scanning the mother to be. "It is going to be alright," Louis gave a reassuring kind gesture, a smile and reached for the patients belly. Louis was feeling the bumps and or kicking which had now begun to contractions from Krysia.

"James, we need to prop together some pillows for Kyrsia to lay up a bit." Louis was no mid wife, but he had been through a few deliveries.

Krysia looked towards Louis, “What’s going on?, the baby isn’t due yet!”

The Doctor didn't want to get too overly technical for the patient, she was under great stress and concern as it was an earlier than planned birth. "It's ok., Everything is ok." He reassured Krysia, as he had wanted to know his self why Krysia's body was adamant this baby was birthing.

Krysia tried her best to stifle the need to cry out with the pain but anyone out in the corridor would have guessed what was happening by now. She looked at James & Louis, "This baby... is coming whether... we want it to happen... or not!!"

--- Hours Later ---

Krysia lay back her hair was a soaked mess & her complexion was pale to say the least, she offered a weak smile to James as their new baby daughter lay on her chest. She knew giving birth under their circumstances wouldn't be easy but something in the way she felt didn't feel right.

Moments later the tricorder Louis was holding that was monitoring Krysia's vitals started to alarm...

James looked from Krysia to the doctor and said, “What’s going on Louis, what is happening.” Smith let the doctor work, but his heart was beating out of his chest, he couldn’t lose her not after all they had been through.

The problem soon became obvious as the covers over Krysia started to turn a deep shade of red, she looked at James her eyes slowly starting to close as she tried to stay awake. "James..." she looked weakly towards him, "If I don't... take care of her."

Smith was in tears as he held her hand, “I’ll take care of her, but you need to survive.” Turning to the Doctor he said “Louis what is happening”. James could feel his heart crushing as he saw her slowly slipping away.

The Lieutenant feverishly worked on Krysia's body, slipping away bleeding internally from the birthing canal. Louis worked with what drugs he had with his medical hypospray to try and control her bleeding, stop the hemmoraging ... It was just a race against the clock really, the best he could do as a Doctor was ensure that she didn't die in vain. Louis covered in blood having had delivered the child and trying to save the babys mother.

His face shot Smith a look that said 'this could be it, say what you need to say.' Time would tell.

--- Sometime Later ---

A lot of hard but good work on behalf of both James & Louis later Krysia was sleeping peacefully her colour was pale to say the least but at least she was alive. The baby lay nearby but for now she was in no condition to be caring for her child.

Smith looked at Krysia and was glad she was finally sleeping peacefully. Louis had been amazing and he would have to remember to thank him again. Leaning down to kiss her on the cheek, James looked at their daughter. Here was a chance to be a family and James was looking forward to raising there daughter with Krysia. Sitting in the chair he sat their watching both of them before picking up his daughter and started to hum a little lullaby while rocking in his chair. Not wanting to leave Krysia side either.

Krysia stirred slightly her head slowly turned towards James as she heard the lullaby, her voice was barely a whisper but she managed to speak. “Hey you...” she raised her hand to gently stroke their baby’s head, “told you... I wasn’t going anywhere.”

James managed a smile, “I was so scared that we were going to lose you. I so happy that Louis was able to work his miracle with the equipment that we have. Smith looked down at their daughter, “She is so beutiful, just like her mother.”

“Can I... hold her?” Krysia winced as she wriggled to one side to make room for their baby beside her. She managed a smile as James placed their daughter gently in the crook of her arm. “She’s gorgeous!” Krysia looked at James tears welling in her eyes, “I thought... I was going... to die.”

James looked at Krysia and smiled, “I want us to grow old together and raise our daughter and maybe other children as well. My life has definitely changed for the good since I met you. I’m so happy that the doctor was able to save you.” Smith bend down to give her a kiss.

Krysia managed a weak smile at Louis who was checking her vitals, “Thank you” her energy gone again she slowly closed her eyes and fell asleep again.
