ON:

Emilie was at that part of the dream she equalled loved and hated. The part where Nyx was there, in bed next to her, whispering sweet nothings into her ear. She would lie there and remember the tone of his voice, the love in his words. But when she turned to see him, to say something back, he was gone. Every night she tried to hold onto the dream for a little bit longer, to have that moment for just a second more, but it always ended the same.

As Emilie woke, she still couldn’t shake the feeling of Nyx’s presence in the room. It was like he was really there with her, and it wasn’t just her imagination. Emilie had heard some of the empaths on the ship had been experiencing similar sensations and was beginning to wonder if there wasn’t some truth in the idea. Determined as she was, Emilie quickly dressed, got Katrine off to Daycare, and headed down to the Medical deck to try and get some answers. She had woken with a sense of her husband and was not about to let it go now.

Dr. Eiri Ashshy was standing just outside of the main Medical bay. He had just finished a conversation with Ayan over his comm. He didn't need to use the comm to speak to Ayan, but he found that using it often made other people more comfortable. He had found, in this tragedy that had happened, that he was best suited to helping medical as much as possible. His husband, Ayan, had joined the repair crews since he had served Starfleet as an Operations officer for years. He looked up as Emilie approached down the hallway. Being new to the ship, he didn't know who she was. "Are you well, miss?" he asked, worried that she was injured. She didn't look injured, but looks could be deceiving.

Aeryn was already in the vicinity of medical as she saw Emilie and Eiri. She headed over just in time to hear Eiri asking Emilie if she was okay “It’s okay Doctor.” She smiled at Eiri. "This is Emilie Temple, the Captain’s wife.” She smiled at Emilie. “Is there anything wrong Emilie?”

Emilie smiled at the two officers. She hesitated a little, as she began to doubt whether or not they would believe her feelings or send her off for a psychological analysis. "Look, this is going to sound odd, but I am convinced that I am still sensing Nyx around the ship. And not just missing him, or thinking of him, but his presence, his voice, sometimes even his scent." She raised her arms up in frustration. "I need to know why."

Aeryn motioned for everyone to follow her into the medical bay, walking over to Tyson’s office she smiled at Tyson as she led everyone inside. “What you just said...” she turned and looked at Emilie. “I’ve been sensing presences on the bridge and throughout the upper decks ever since our people disappeared,” she looked at Emilie then at Tyson.

“When I tried reaching out with my senses on the bridge I got a strong sense of Krysia...” She looked at Eiri. “What about you Doctor? Have you sensed anything?”

Eiri listened quietly. When Aeryn turned to ask him, his face was a Vulcan mask of stoicness. "It is hard to seperate what I sense, especially with everyone being frightened. I also have not been up on the Bridge. Perhaps, I should try there. Unlike most empaths, I cannot shut my senses off. I hear everyone, everything, all the time," he said softly. He furrowed his eyebrows just a little. "Maybe if I were somewhere with fewer people..." he suggested, looking at the people around him.

"Why not the bridge?" Aeryn looked at Eiri. "It's quieter there. I can understand how difficult it must be not being able to switch off so take whatever time you need."

"What about my quarters?" Emilie spoke up. "I'm not allowed on the Bridge but I feel like if we went to somewhere familiar to Nyx and I, it might help focus the connection?"

"I am not a bridge officer," Eiri said flatly. "Hence why I have not been on the Bridge. I believe that your quarters would probably be a better location."

Aeryn nodded, “It’s a good idea.” She looked at Tyson. “Might I suggest you come along Doctor, after my last experience of trying to connect on the bridge I found it very hard getting a grip back on my senses so I might need your medical expertise.” What she didn’t say was that their personal relationship and her feelings for Tyson would also help her as well.

Tyson was as happy as any to be able to help the two Doctors and Emilie Temple the Captain's wife. "I will bring my psycho analysis scanners, might show something in the process." He began to get his medical case and then followed the rest.

"My question is, if our missing crew is still on the ship, where are they most likely to be now? Right at this moment. Echoes of people isn't going to do us much good if we can't contact them. If you would like me to try and contact them I will need to be in a place where we think they might also be currently. The only person missing that I cannot hear is Dr. Brennen. Something about her species is closed off to empaths and telepaths," Eiri added calmly.

"What about Krysia?" Aeryn looked at the others. "Her Drax half is as strong as I am, in fact stronger. If we could find where her presence is currently strongest maybe we could link to her and use her as a conduit to the others?"

“I’ve just felt Nyx in my quarters,” Emilie insisted. “I feel him there most often, I think that’s a good place to start and since he’s my husband, my emotional connection to him will be strongest.”

"Agreed," Aeryn smiled and nodded.

Eiri took a deep breath and nodded. He didn't need any sort of emotional attachment to attempt contacting anyone, but he could hear and feel both of the women's emotional worry and desire to contact those that meant the most to them. He shook his head and waited for someone to lead the way. He wasn't sure what help he was going to be. He wasn't even sure what had happened exactly.

Tyson was quiet. He was using his medical tricorder to record the brain patterns of both Dr. Ashshy, Dr. Jameson and Mrs. Temple. The recordings were showing brain waves from the crew, the conscious levels seemingly normative for this crowd. Although Tyson did not have a sample test case to understand if anything happening here, say reaching conscious with the lost crew, would be achieved.

Emilie lead the way into her quarters, thankful that she had remembered to clean up before inviting people around. She strolled towards their dining room table and turned to face the others with a hesitant smile. She still wasn’t even sure if this would work, or if they believed she wasn’t just a lonely person missing her partner.

“Sometimes I feel Nyx in the bedroom, and sometimes while sitting here,” she explained. “But it’s not consistent, it can be at any time of the day or night.”

Eiri started to circle the room, looking intently at the objects in the room. "When you say you "feel" him... can you elaborate on that feeling? Do you feel him? Or hear him? Any smells?"

"Yes, yes, yes." Emilie replied dutifully. "Especially the last one. You spend this many years with a man, you notice his aftershave when it's in the room. And sometimes it's like he's just walked straight past me."

Eiri tried to focus his abilities. He took another deep breath and closed his eyes. He had to reach beyond the noise of all the decks of people around him. It was very difficult to tune out everyone's inner dialogue and emotions, but beyond there was something. A whisper. Almost like an echo. It sort of felt like he was listening to someone that was very far away and inside of a tin can.

Aeryn watched as Eiri let his senses guide him, "Doctor Ashby can you hear me?" she looked at Emilie and Tyson before reaching out her hand and gently placing it in his at the same time she let her mental barriers down to get a sense of what Eiri was picking up, the combination had the unexpected and immediate effect of joining her mind to Eiri's giving him an extra sensory boost. Aeryn gasped at the sensation but did her best to stay connected.

Eiri's mind was not something that most telepaths were prepared for. With both his Vulcan and Betazoid heritage his abilities were not something that stopped. There was no off button. Eiri had learned to compartmentalize, but that was no help for outsiders looking in. No matter how deep he had gone everything else was an overwhelming cacophony of noise and emotion, like everyone on the entire starship was speaking at once. Most people with his heritage eventually lost their minds and succumb to the onslaught. Aeryn's connection, to Eiri, was a violation. Both cultures he was from had very strict rules regarding permissions. He had definitely not given any permission and now that she was there in his mind, her thoughts only added to his chaos. His ability to hear anything broke down almost immedately and he pushed her presence from his mind and pulled his hand back. He opened his eyes and looked at her, his face a mask. "Yes, I can hear you... but I cannot hear anything else with you in there." He lifted one very Vulcan eyebrow. He was hoping that she was about to tell him that her bad telepath behavior was because of her human side.

"I'm... sorry Doctor." She massaged her temples. "I didn't intend to join with your mind... I was just trying to get a sense of what you were experiencing. My touching your hand must have initiated a link." She sat down in a chair. The link had been intense to say the least. "That hasn't happened to me before."

"Which part?" Eiri asked. He took a deep breath. "I would like to try again. There was something. Something faint, beyond... everything else. I do not know how to explain it further." He looked up at Emilie.

Emilie had started to wonder around the room while the empaths were going back and forth. There was something familiar, something almost deliberately grabbing her attention. "My love..." she whispered, deciding to forgo any sense of embarrassment over talking to thin air. "Are you here?" There was a small voice, almost inaudible to be heard at first but definitely something there. And it was in pain. Emilie spun around wildly. "Who's there?!" she shouted.

Aeryn looked up she could have sworn she too heard something, very faint and if she hadn't been sitting trying to concentrate she might have missed it altogether. "I think I heard that..."

Eiri also lifted his chin and cocked his head to one side. "That was definitely audible. Is there anyone in the quarters around us?" he asked, curious as to whether the sound was coming from outside the room.

“I think they’re on duty but I don’t know.” Emilie shrugged, as she continued to look around. In the corner of her eyes she saw something glimmering in the air. Distinctive blue lights like one would see when transporting. She turned quickly but it disappeared, only to reappear somewhere else on the room. “Anyone see that?”

Tyson was cool and collected in his expression. Holding his tricorder up through all of this experience in Emilie and the Captain's quarters. He could have felt his sadness when Emilie had expressed her emotion. "There's a spike. I'm reading a neutrino cloud." He held the tricorder up towards the blue aura that was flowing through the room as if gazing.

Aeryn had also seen the blue lights, at the same time her senses had picked up powerful emotions. “They’re... in there.” she looked at Eiri, “I sensed very strong emotions... almost like there’s something wrong.”

Eiri closed his eyes again. This time when he heard the voices that sounded like they were coming from a tin can, they were much closer. "Something... about shields..." he said softly. "Shields... collapsing.... they're in trouble." He opened his eyes and looked up at Emilie. "They are very tired."

The shimmering blue lights hovered around for a while, random voices and feelings continuing to emit from whatever it was that they were viewing. Emilie could only clutch her hands together as she heard the news. “Can’t we help them?” she cried.

Aeryn moved across to Emilie trying to offer some support, "I've never seen anything like this Emilie I'm not sure what we can do." She looked at Eiri hoping he'd have some idea.

The gleaming cloud began to grow in brightness and size, before finally letting off one blinding burst of light. The four were forced to cover their eyes until the glow subsided and when they were finally able to see again, they were greeted by the appearance of a young man lying on the floor.

"What?" Aeryn looked at Tyson as the young man lay face down on the floor, "What just happened?"

Eiri immedately went to the young man and checked for signs of life. He also pulled a tricorder from his belt and opened it. He wasn't sure how the young man had gotten to them, he also wasn't sure who exactly he was.

Still blinded from the spike in whatever it was that it was... the plasma energy? Tyson guessed but would wait for verification later on. He set his self down by the side of the human male laying on deck floor. His medical tricorder had files and results of tests far into history from every Pandora crew member, in the palm of his hand. "This man is officer Mauricio Arnaldo." Tyson then retrieved a hypo spray from his medical kit, used to give a partial dose of metabolic steroid, ensuring the mans pulse was strong, despite his current unconscious state.

Emilie gasped as she recognised the name. “He was on the Bridge with the others! He might know what’s happened to them?”

"Computer, one patient and present party to beam directly to sick bay." Tyson stood to be energized back to the Medical Bay. His deck. His small world where he could bring back his patients, and try and work on them, try and save them, and in this case, try and find out what the bogus intent of this all.
