Krysia was sitting relaxing when Louis arrived, he’d popped in to see how both she & Aurora were doing several times since Aurora’s surprise arrival this time it was for an official visit to check Aurora’s weight and see how Krysia’s blood pressure was fairing since she’d been resting.
“How are you today Krysia?” he smiled warmly as he came to sit down by her with his medical tricorder, it had been lucky that he’d had it with him when events had transpired that lead to their current predicament.
“Feeling better than I was” Krysia smiled warmly, “I’m still a little weak in the knees though.”
“I’m not surprised after what happened to you” he smiled, “giving birth is draining enough on the human body but the amount of blood you lost almost killed you” he tapped his tricorder, “you’re lucky that you didn’t lose much more blood, your body coped with what you lost if there’d have been much more we’d have needed a transfusion from a compatible donor and right now we don’t have the equipment to be able to tell us who’d be suitable.”
“I came that close...” she looked at Aurora, “I promised James I wouldn’t leave him, I plan on keeping that promise even if I have to cheat death itself.”
“Well you did that... but just barely ” Louis smiled. “Your blood pressure is still a little high so I’ll be keeping an eye on that. How are you feeling in yourself?”
“Besides feeling like I was knocked over by a landing shuttlecraft?” She grinned, “A little emotional from time to time but from what I understand that’s normal.”
“It is” he nodded, “If you feel you can’t cope or you need any help you have to let me know as soon as possible Okay?”
Krysia nodded, “I promise” she watched as Louis made his way over to baby Aurora, his readouts gave him all the approximate figures he needed on her growth and condition.
“Aurora is doing fine” he smiled at Krysia, “she’s a little underweight but that’s nothing to panic about at this point in time just make sure she gets whatever feeds she needs and make sure you keep your own strength up as well. She’s going to rely on you for everything she needs so you need to be eating and drinking regularly to keep your own strength up.
“There’s only so much I can do on the rations we have, even with everyone else giving up part of their rations for us” she looked at Aurora, “my priority is keeping her healthy.”
Louis shook his head, “Next time I come back I want to see you looking better not worse” he put his tricorder back in his pocket, “If I don’t see you improving Krysia I’ll have you moved to the temporary sickbay where I can keep a proper eye on you and make sure you’re eating.”
“You’re kidding me right?” She looked at Louis.
“No I’m not!” he smiled and shook his head, “You are both my patients so be warned, either you start taking more care of yourself or I’ll move you where I can see you and make sure you do properly eat.”
Krysia nodded, “Okay... I promise!” she smiled wearily as she looked at Louis.
“I also suggest you get some sleep while you’ve got the chance” he nodded to Aurora who was sound asleep.
Krysia smiled and nodded putting her head down on the sofa she closed her eyes and went to sleep as well.
