Aeryn walked into sickbay and smiled to the medical staff as she made her way towards Tyson’s Office, it had seemed like forever since the bridge crew had disappeared, but in reality it hadn't been that long. She smiled as she peered around the door to see Tyson sitting feet up reading. “Anything interesting?”
She walked inside and waited for the door to slide closed behind her before walking around the desk and planting a gentle, yet loving kiss on his lips. “I’ve missed you”
Tyson let that moment linger. Aeryn's tender lips had a mailable way about them. He opened his eyes from the kiss to see that Aeryn sat on his desk. He grunted and stood up, smiling back. He placed his left hand on Aeryn's petite shoulder. "I've missed you," Brookes added. He had a sound of almost resigned pout to his voice.
“Did I do something wrong?” Aeryn looked at Tyson with concern.
"That's not it," he continued. "I am worried. When you use your empathic senses, I don't want what ever happened to them, the crew, to happen to you." What Tyson had to speak was the truth, there was no way of knowing what the consequences could be of tapping into an alternate conscious dimension.
“My senses are a part of who and what I am my love.” She gently ran her fingers through his hair as she spoke, “If I can put them to use helping to locate or communicate with our lost crew... with Krysia...” She gave Tyson a knowing look. “I know she means something to you, that if she didn’t have James and we weren’t together... then maybe there’d be more to the relationship the two of you share.” She sat back on the edge of Tyson’s desk.
"My own truth is that I like who I am with right this minute." He let a small grin slowly form, fully into a happy smile. He planted a nice passionate kiss on Aeryn, not even caring if his sick bay staff had seen this, he had a perfect record. He could dispose of one discretion. "You can take that to the bank, Ms. Jameson!" He winked his pool boy style.
Aeryn grinned as she returned his kiss, feeling a little like she was under a microscope. She got up and walked over to the door, closing it and returning to Tyson. "You know something..." She wrapped her arms around Tyson's neck. "I like being with you too. There's just something about you that I can't get enough of." She grinned as she leaned back a little provocatively on Tyson's desk. "You know, I've always wondered what it would be like to make love like this..." She grinned a wry grin.
Tyson enjoyed the display that Aeryn had presented before him. She was definitely coined 'bodacious' in his book. Enjoying her slender arms clasped around his neck, the medical PaDDs slipped off the side to the deck below. Tyson felt shamed to commit, not while the crew was missing, not while his staff was attending in the other room.
Steam was seen coming from his ears, the virile and oh so stressed Tyson was wanting Aeryn's delight. "I want to. Oh baby, I want you. But we can't." He could have sounded like he was putting down a dog. He was sad of his selfless emotion.
“Hey... it’s okay.” Aeryn slid off the corner of the desk and leaned towards him. “I’m sorry. I was just trying to lighten the mood a little...” She smiled as she gently kissed him. “Maybe later tonight but only if you want to...” She turned and moved back around to a seat on the opposite side of the desk.
Tyson smiled. This is why he had enjoyed seeing Aeryn, she just knew what to always say. "Clearly..." He let his eyes slowly march up and down Aeryn's physical specimen. "It's this place right now. Sick bay never was much of a turn on for me." He shrugged. "You can lighten my mood any day."
He took Aeryn's petite hand, her orange red flowing hair. He was happy to have this release with her. She was the only one on this ship thus far that let Tyson feel like he could be himself. Taking Aeryn's hand and sitting down with her comfortably on his lap, he playfully gave a slight smile and nuzzled a kiss back at her. A rare moment of Tyson affection.
Aeryn smiled as she enjoyed Tyson's affections before her attention turned back to sickbay. “So How is Mauricio doing?”
He paused after having visited Arnaldo just moments before Aeryn had visited. He had methodically reviewed the latest vital scans of Lieutenant Arnaldo. "He is stable. He is showing signs of some sort of unconscious cloud blocking his brain activity. I can't get him to talk or to be aware of his surroundings. He has been given the most effective doses of neuro tetrazine he can handle." Tyson shook his head, as his blue eyes mirrored into Aeryn's. "It really is a matter of time. I believe more psychological probing may be beneficial to some sort of helping him get out from this psychological coma. Perhaps something that will bring Mauricio back into our universe, our world. Wherever it was they were first taken."
"So is there anything I can do to help him?" She looked at Tyson, "I've never encountered anything like his condition before so I'm not entirely sure if anything I can do would be any good."
Tyson was weary of that question. Deep down he didn't want Aeryn to get involved. What if this psychological trauma or comatose state that was un-identified, ended up doing harm to Aeryn. He would not be able to forgive himself. He paused. Aeryn could see the concern from the back of his mind.
"If you do attempt to use your psi powers I cannot guarantee you will be spared from whatever has occurred to Mauricio. That's a big risk." He was glad that he would have help. "Dr. Ashshy also volunteered his services. I would like the both of you here at 0220 hours. I will have the sick bay prepped for... Whatever you both feel you may be able to reach the Marine on the unconscious levels, that us mere mortals cannot." He winked.
"It'll be okay," Aeryn offered Tyson an understanding smile.
Tyson tapped his badge. =/\= "Dr. Ashshy, would you please report to Medical Bay for 0200 hours. We will be attempting a conscious psi probing effort, along with Dr. Jameson. =/\=
=/\= "I am already present in Medical bay. I am not certain that any attempt at psionics would be advised. I also do not believe that any of the members of the crew are capable of a psionic probing. I know I am not. It is not a Betazoid or a Vulcan trait, unless you are speaking of a mind meld." =/\= was Eiri's response.
"I'll be here for then," Aeryn leaned forward and gently kisses Tyson on the cheek. "Perhaps when all this is over we could take some time together? Give us chance to have some us time."
"Wild horses Aeryn... " He added. He winked, a flash of excitement in his eye.
=/\= "Dr. Ashshy" =/\= Tyson turned a bit embarrassed. He let his hands tuff at the back of his head in the hairs. Things were busy around here. =/\= "Will you join me and Dr. Jameson in the medical office?" =/\=
=/\= "Of course. On my way." =/\= Eiri responded. It only took him a few moments before he was at the office door. He tapped the buzzer and waited.
Aeryn looked to Tyson moments before the buzzer rang. “Dr Ashshy is here.” She smiled as the buzzer sounded.
"It's open!" he called towards the doorway.
Eiri stepped into the office. His face a mask of Vulcan stoicness. He took a deep breath.
"Doctor, have a seat." Tyson paused. "I want to thank you for the useful help you have provided us in Medical Bay, me and our staff are extremely grateful," he began.
"You are welcome. Although, I feel I should apologize as well for infringing on your medical bay. It seemed the place that I was most useful," Eiri said as he sat in the nearest chair.
"Dr. Jameson and I were discussing the a next step, if we can find one. Is there any way possible to revive or to reach First Lieutenant Arnaldo?" He looked at both the Doctors, Aeryn and Ashshy.
"I am not certain what to tell you, aside from go over everything and see if there is something we have missed. He is in a comatose state, but not a coma. His body seems unharmed. His brain activity is almost nonexistent, aside from what is required for his body to function. Without the causation of why he's in this state, I am not sure there is anything we can do. A mind meld would be too dangerous and at this moment I get no emotional states from him at all. Almost as if he were a blank slate. Any sort of invasive probing might cause further harm. If we were to accidentally cease his brain function, even in the slightest, he could die. A momentary loss could mean organ failure or worse. There is so little running him now." Eiri stopped talking. It was hard for him, feeling that he could help, but also trying to come to grips with the fact that he was eventually going to have to go back to the science department.
Aeryn looked at Tyson. “If Doctor Ashshy isn’t sensing anything from him, then I doubt I’ll get much reaction either, but I can try and see if my senses pick up anything different from his. My empathic senses won't have any effect on his physical state, it’s more an effect on me than on others.”
Tyson nodded.
Aeryn followed both Tyson and Ashshy to where Mauricio lay. Just being in the same vicinity as him made her nervous. Eiri was right when he said Mauricio was a blank slate. It was like he wasn't even there, even though his body lay before them. "I've never sensed anything like this..." She looked at Tyson then at Eiri then back at Mauricio, "There's nothing... absolutely nothing..." She shivered as a chill ran down her spine, as she let her senses delve deeper before backing away from the biobed.
Brookes narrowed his eyes asessing Mauricio. The medical field truely did have a disadvantage in the field of consciousness and the living soul. Up until recently doctors in Tysons timeline dispelled the theory of a living conscious or a soul within the physical body. The mechanics to identify and support the theory of a consciousness was not there. In the 24th century medical world Tyson was able to tell very little still.
"Mauricio our Marine here. The ships diagnostic and sensors tell us that he is alive and doing well, his body is warm, his blood pressure is steady, his brain fuction is intermediate. I have given some sedatives to try to stimulate brain activity without success. The process was discontinued. Aeryn may I ask, what was it that you experienced, are you alright?"
"I'm fine..." she hardly took her eyes off Mauricio until Tyson's hand touched hers. "Sorry... I wasn't expecting... How can he be so blank? There's just darkness... no light and no consciousness." She shook her head as her eyes turned to Eiri.
Eiri shrugged. "I am not certain either. It is as if his consciousness is not in his body, yet there is no physical symptoms of brain death. There is brain activity." He pointed to the monitors that clearly showed the Marine's brain was still functioning. You said he was with the others. Which suggests that there is someplace that the others are... in order for him to come from there. So... we have to suspect that they have been pulled somewhere else in space. A place that is not visible here, but is somehow not far from here. I am certain that we have all heard our fair share of stories of alternate timelines and mirror universes. I am speculating that perhaps Mauricio's consciousness is still trapped there." He looked at the others gathered around. "It would explain why there is nothing... I am afraid that it is the only explanation I have."
“Let's just hope we get an answer sometime soon.” Aeryn looked at Mauricio. “Right now he’s all we have to link us to our missing people.”
'An alternate universe....' Tyson watched Mauricio. 'This is getting way over my head.'
"I should probably return to the Science lab. Maybe I might be able to make some progress there. Perhaps study the storm," Eiri said, his tone and expression unreadable. "Good luck with your patient." He bowed politely, as was Vulcan custom, and turned for the door.
"Thank you, Doctor." Aeryn smiled as she called after Eiri. She only wished she could have been more help. She looked at Tyson. "Maybe I should try delving a little deeper? If I use my telepathy maybe I can find something that'll give us some answers..."
Tyson was critical of the situation. "I don't think the benefits of probing will be fruitful." Tyson shook his head at Aeryn. He was kind about it. "I just don't want to place anyone in harms way that doesn't need to be, even if they are willing at least for now...." He paused. Tyson then re-applied his tricorder sensor readings to Mauricio. The tricorder readings consistently showed no brain responsive activity. The man is brain dead, he was been deposited or found here, we believe from the other universe. We should wait for Doctor Ashshy, perhaps he will find something?"
Aeryn nodded in agreement "I had to at least offer" she smiled at Tyson.
On the biobed adjacent to all of this concerned conversation, Mauricio remained completely oblivious to the confusion and mystery his return had caused. His face, much like his thoughts and feelings, was a total blank slate. Somewhere between death and life; between this world and the one he had been ripped from. If only he could be reached, he would have been able to give the much-needed answers to where he had been, and where the other missing crew remained...
