[DECK 01, MAIN BRIDGE – CAPTAIN’S READY ROOM]
Tyson completed work on various triage and burn patients’ from around the ship and the science labs. He had worked well with Lt. Ashshy in the medical bay, stabilizing patients.
“Captain on the bridge,” Tyson spoke. He looked around as he stepped off the turbo lift, the doors a hiss closing behind.
“Or there is nobody.” He was a bit perplexed. He was too busy having dealt with searching the ship for injured and then dealing with a mounting triage issue in the medical bay on deck 06.
It had been over 48 hours now since the USS Pandora was hit by the shock wave, in turn, taking a crew with the phenomenon. Coming out of surgery, Tyson was overtired both physically and mentally. He grabbed a fresh baseball tee and a pair of comforting cargo shorts, along with his favourite pair of sneakers.
Chiming at the Captain’s Ready Room, he was told by the Computer that Commander Nash was inside. He had called to meet the Commander about a curious situation that had cropped up or instead growing up. The Medical Bay labs Petri dishes were growing incredibly odd and complicated fungi and neutron fluxing. The complete batch of medical bay medicines was crafted in-house for most cases, and since the shock wave had hit the Pandora, the crew is missing, there were now missing DNA chains of amino acids in the various Petri dishes in his medical lab. Something was amiss.
This puzzle with the petri dish is why Dr. Brookes invited Commander Nash, Lt. JG Parrino and Lt. Wakefield to meet with him as soon as they could in the ready room.
Tyson laid a chime on the ready room door.
Tyson chimed at the door of the Captain’s Ready Room. The computer informed him that Commander Nash was on the main bridge. He had called to meet the Commander regarding a curious situation that cropped up.
The Medical Bay lab Petri dishes were growing incredibly odd and complicated fungi. The complete batch of medicine was crafted in-house for most cases. Since the shock wave had hit the Pandora, the crew is missing was mysterious in itself. Now, there were missing DNA chains of amino acids in the various Petri dishes in his medical lab. Something was amiss.
Tyson chimed the ready room door.
Owen looked up from his pile of paperwork, more accurately PADD's and saw Tyson waiting outside. he smiled as he gestured to him to enter.
"Come in Doc, what can I do for you?" he asked as he saw the ships CMO enter.
Tyson stood and then realized that there was everyone else was parading in tandem on time. "Sir. I was going to speak to you." He set down the two test petri dishes on the Captain's table, along with the PADDs from Mindo. "These petri dishes managed to grow 9.2 hours, within 22 minutes. This should not have happened. I believe may have something to do with the crew disappearance, though, not certain."
"I see, well that is very strange... That would suggest some sort of time dialation is in effect either around the ship or disecting the ship in some way," he offered. "Do you have further Evidence of anywhere else being affected in this way?"
"Save for the petri dishes in the medical labs, I have not encountered any other peculiarities." Tyson replied to Capt. Owen.
Sitting in the chair uncomfortably behind the desk, Owen was still getting used to both of these objects belonging to him...for now. He was reading over the data from the scans that Mindo had run.
Hearing the door chime for a second time, Owen called out "Come in" almost automatically after hearing the Doctors Quandry.
Katniss had half a dozen padd's in her hands, she was busy reading over information that has been sent from the science department, as well as information from her own research laboratory, something was off and she couldn't put her finger on it, but it just did not sit right with her. However when Owen had shouted out, it had broken her concentration, she glanced up for a moment, almost forgetting what she was doing.
Parrino followed quietly, a bit miffed that being an intelligence officer, she was not able to figure out what happened. From what she could tell though, this was something squarely in the science department's field and not the work of Starfleet's adversaries.
"I hope I'm not late," Katniss said almost dropping several PADD's
Dr. Brookes chuckled at Wakefield and Parrino as he watched them enter the small ready room that Captain. His petri dishes already on the table. He was happy that the rest of the science deck was arriving.
Parrino saw the dishes and felt her anxiety lessen. This was definitely a Science issue and not Intel.
"Ohhh petri dishes" Katniss said a slight smile on her face
Owen saw Katniss walk into the Ready Room with her many PADD's and smiled, remembering the days he was in the same situation when he was a lower ranked officer.
"Somebody is working overtime..." he mentioned as he got up to help her with her pile of paperwork.
Katniss gave a reassuring smile "Well it's like when a family member goes missing, you wouldn't leave any stone unturned, I'd even pin missing crew posters up if I thought it would help, but until we known for definite what has happened, I'm not going to give up."
Owen helped her out with the PADD's before gesturing for Katniss to take a seat. "So what can I do for you Lieutenant...any news is good news as far as I'm concerned," Owen offered.
"The science teams are reconstructing some of the data, there was some damage when the wave hit. I still can't rule out that the bridge crew were vaporised on impact, but I just don't think that it the case. I need more time before I can even begin to speculate what's happening."
"These as well." Tyson steped in on the conversation. "This is astrophylic zenofraz "HH1" the samples are supposed to take days to recreate for vaccines in the med labs. Something, some neutrino flux altered their chemical processes."
"Ok firstly, until evidence is provided to the contrary, I'm not accepting that the Bridge crew have been vapourised, so there has to be a reason as to why they are missing..." Owen began.
He stood up from his seat and thought for a moment. "Doctor, continue monitoring the samples and see if the time accleration issue continues... Lieutenant, carry on with your teams work on reconstructing the data, however also keep in mind the time dialation issue that Doctor Brookes reported, that could be linked to the Bridge crews disappearance," Owen ordered.
Looking at the officrs in the room, he showed a spark of hope. "These two quandries offer a hope that the crew is out there and alive..continue your work on them please."
Tyson look at the other crew members and nodded at the Captain. "You have some of our very best, Sir."
"Time dilation...Petri dishes...missing crew...Chroniton..." Katniss said pausing, you could see the concentration on her face like the cogs were slowly turning "and...neutrinos...Ohhhh I'm so stupid...neutrinos and Chroniton, time dilation. I'm so stupid." she said jumping out of her chair. "I need to go to my lab, i need to run some experiements, but I don't think the crew are dead."
Parrino's eyebrow shot up while her mouth did not betray any emotion. She had heard of some temporal phenomenon and intelligence officers were trained to report any suspicion of temporal foul play. Yet if this was time dilation, it was certainly natural. It did not make sense that the Pandora was targeted. There were too many variables involved. Natalia looked at the Commander. She certainly had questions, but this was his show.
Owen could see the spark of hope in both Brookes eyes and Wakefield's and he too felt a surge of hope.
"Then go people... We have a crew to save," Owen said. "Lt Parino, could you stay a moment?" He asked.
"Yes, sir" Parrino said, wondering what was about to happen.
"I'll be quick about this Lieutenant, I know this hasn't been an ideal start for you on the Pandora but trust me when I say that this is almost normal on board," Owen explained.
He walked around to the front of the desk to face her. "Once we get underway, I'll like you to be on the bridge as my acting Chief Intelligence Officer. Follow your duties as you see fit and offer any counsel or opinions you see fit... How does that grab you?" Owen asked.
Natalia wasn't sure what she was more puzzled by... the fact this was all normal or that she was being asked to take over a department.
"Sir," she started, "we're going to get our people back." Natalia wasn't sure if she was trying to convince the (acting?) Captain or herself more.
Owen smiled at her enthusiasm. "I have no doubt of that happening, however in the meantime, I still need to have department heads who can stand in for those missing," Owen explained. "Once we get Lieutenant Smith back, I'm sure that you'll return to your normal duties."
"Of course, sir. Will that be all?" Natalia said, stiffening, trying not to get emotional. She had lost people in the past, yet it was always hard.
Owen nodded. "That will be all, now lets gets to work!" He said as they both left the Ready Room to attend to their duties.
