Mission: New Moon Rising
Location: Sickbay

Katniss originally graduated Stafleet Medical as a Doctor, but then she then had a change of heart and went into Science. However she still voluntered the required number of hours in medical practise to keep her medical licence, so she was both a scientist and a Doctor. As Chief Research Officer she was going to be working closely with medical and she was going to be evaluating the effects the expanse may have on the crew, so she was going to need access to patient files. Plus now would be a good time to introduce herself.

With that she had followed the directions on her padd and had finally located sickbay, she really needed to sit and look at the deck plans and listings, but for the moment she had more important things to do. She took a deep breath and entered sickbay.

For a moment she felt at home, she did miss it, and if she hadn't gone into science she would of no doubt being a Chief Medical Officer herself, but she liked to dabble in both fields. "Hello." she gently called out as she walked further into sickbay, the refit certainly had done a good job.

Kolbeck was inside the main section of the Sick Bay when he heard someone call out. It was not often that he had a full contingent staff. Ensign Adaestron was working on setting up crew appointments across the room at another workstation. Both the Doctors would soon be completing crew physicals over the next few days.

Van was finished completing a serum work up of Interleukin-2 Receptor Blocking Antibodies, for one of the Pandora patients ongoing therapy. He turned from his sick bay working station to see a Science Officer. She was a Lieutenant. He knew immediately who this crew member was.

“Ah. God morgen løytnant.” He offered a reserved smile. “You are the Pandora Science and Medical liaison.” He noticed her green eyes along with her brown hair tied into a bun.

"Indeed, I'm Doctor Wakefiled" she said with a smile "I thought I would drop in and introduce myself, after all I will be working closing with with both departments and of course helping out in an emergency or if you need my expertise as a medical doctor."

From the next room, Ensign Adaestron walked in, "Ah, I thought to myself that Lieutenant Kolbeck's voice wasn't as high pitched as I could hear." Max held his hand out for the doctor to shake, "Ensign Adaestron, Assistant Chief Medical Officer"

Katniss turned to the Ensign and smiled "Pleased to meet you Ensign." she raid reaching out her hand in a friendly manner.

“That is kind of you. We are in the middle of setting up resources and crew physicals.” He had paused. “A matter of fact you can help me” he paused looking at Adaestron, “Er us.” He gestured. “Please come in and relax.”

“Mr Adaestron would you please bring me Lt. Wakefields Medical File. Bring my stethoscope as well.” He took pride in checking patients vitals without technology, and he had wanted to ensure that his cohort was up to his snuff.

Ensign Adaestron walked into Lt. Kolbeck's office, picking up his stethoscope and a PaDD, and brought up Lt. Wakefield's medical file. He walked back to the two officers, and handed the stethoscope and PaDD to Kolbeck.

Kolbeck led the Lieutenant inward. It was almost akin to luring a Cat to a carrier; it was not possible. Through Kolbecks prior experience with Physicals crew members either cancelled appointments, forgot appointments, or just did not show up. That was of course until he enacted his executive medical order.

“When was your last Physical Lt., Wakefield?” He offered a slight pleasant smile. Kolbeck always showed a calm front. Babies especially found him comforting in an odd way. One would think his loud nature would derive terror.

Katniss pondered for a moment, a gentle "Hmm" came out "Thats a good question...I can't actually recall." she stated, "But I guess I'm going to get one now." she replied with a gentle smile.

“Hmmm Is not an answer min løytnant.” He shook his head slightly with a playful ‘Tsk Tsk’ sound.

Kolbeck took out his Medical Tricorder and detached the scanner head holding it in his right hand, raising it up above Katniss’s brown hair. He was pleased that she was fascinated in both the sciences and medical disciplines.

“What made you choose the Sciences Lt?” He asked while scanning. Kolbeck had begun checking all the lab readings and ongoing tests, DNA, and molecular analysis of Lt. Wakefield’s profile right from his tricorder. As a Doctor, Van was always happy to be with the Medical Community on the Ship as he was working with Adaestron.

"Good question...I mean I am a medical doctor and I really enjoyed it, but then the science behind things also caught my attention, the chance to debunk or prove things and research, so I now dabble in both."

“I see you do not drink much alcohol.” He nodded. “Your liver enzymes are immaculate. As are your amino reactive peptides. You work out well.” He nodded not letting his eyes leave from the variables compiling on his tricorder.

"I am known to let my hair down on the odd occasion, but I've never been one for alcohol and one has to take care of herself." she said with a cheeky grin.

“I believe both of us are big fans of yours.” He prompted Machewan to take a look at one of the nearby Sick Bay computers that had a peer reviewed circular come highlighted in the system, when they had accessed Lt. Wakefields bio. “When will you be submitting your next assay to the Federation Medical Sciences Institute?” He crossed his arms and looked into the green eyes of the Scientist.

Katniss smiled "Male fans, I am honoured." she said teasing them "Hopefully the research I will be conducting in the expase will yield some work, oh and I am going to need access to the crews medical records as well, I am going to be monitoring the affects of the expanse on the crew. And I'd love to cook for the both of you in my quarters, a proper home cooked meal, non of the replicated stuff that comes from deck five. Call it a getting to know you both better meal." she said extending them both an invitation.

"How kind of you," Max replied, "I'll have to make sure I can do the same for you, perhaps I'll cook a betazoid delicacy,"

Katniss tensed up and gritted her teeth, a cold shudder went down her spine and her heart rate accelerated, like fear had taken over, so not only was there a child on board that she was petrified of, she had a betazoid that could read her thoughts. "How kind, I'll arrange it as soon as I'm settled."

Max noticed that Katniss got nervous when she heard the word "betazoid", mostly mentally, not so much physically. He still hadn't gotten around to working out a way to "turn off" his psionic abilities. Max decided not to bring it up, as it would probably get her even more nervous.

Kolbeck was rather taken aback by Katniss’ offer. A smile formed and then a slight nod as he put the scanner down. He crossed his arms and then sat next to the other biobed. Doctor, Machewan seemed surprised as well. Van had come to see Lt. Wakefield in a new shade of light. Katniss had somehow seemed the introverted type.

He would not turn down an offer at something cooked. “I believe I have got the better part of this offer. We have performed your scan. You perform cooking. Thank you, Lieutenant.” He nodded.

"Excellent." she said getting to her feet "I will send invitations out shortly." she said with a smile "Well gentlemen, I look forward to working with you both. Anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate."

Watching Lt. Wakefield leave Kolbeck had begun to set away the medical assortment of instruments back to their proper places. "I did not expect that." He offered glancing over at Aldaestron. "What do you think we shall bring. It is customary to offer the hostess a gift, and or bring a ceremonial beverage."

The two of them looked at each other for a moment. Van asked Aldaestron "Do you bring your Tom Collins?"

"From the time I spent on Earth, I believe you bring a bottle of wine, unless I am mistaken, " Max told Van, "Although I can certainly make some Tom Collinses when I get to Lieutenant Wakefield's quarters. What do you think of her?" he asked.

Van acted a bit naive. “Lt. Wakefield?” He eyed Machewan as he completed putting away the scanning devices. He then pulled up one of the PADD’s from the nearby Medic station.

He punched in a few keys into the PADD having confirmed various data was present within the mainframe of the Sickbay.

“She is interesting.” He walked over to Machewan. “Ensign. Will you please enter and culture these cell analysis with the rest of the crew physical samples. I would like a report on the trans-variance peptides levels.”

“Interesting… Ja. In a good way. Why do you ask?” He replied curiously.

Machwen took the cell samples from the Lieutenant, "It was just something I noticed, no need to worry about it," he told Van.
