Mission:
Death in Paradise
Location: Pandora Sickbay
ON:
Having arrived in Sickbay with the children, Krysia remained at their sides knowing how nervous the two were. She'd requested the presence of John Sandoval to discuss the business of getting the children to the family as she'd promised Del'al she would.
Alexandra accompanied the counselor and the children to sickbay. She ordered the nurses to get ready to do a full physical on the kids, but only after they've gained their trust enough so they'd allow it.
A few minutes later, John hobbled into sickbay and nodded to Krysia and Alexandra. “You wanted to see me?”
Krysia nodded. "I do" she motioned for John to grab a comfy seat to save his leg. "The children have family out amongst the ships queued up outside. We were hoping the Irokari would be able to help us?"
"Hello, Lieutenant." Alex nodded with a smile to John, as he entered. "It's a long story, but the Lieutenant is right on topic." she then said, indicating Krysia, then the children with her head.
John thought a moment. “Huh. The Irokari might indeed be helpful. They don’t owe us anything, having given us good intelligence already about Pact activity in the region. But they’re here for humanitarian reasons, and we could probably ask for a humanitarian favour.” He continued to think. “The freighter they’re using is privately owned. Its Captain might need something in exchange for using his ship for this.”
Krysia nodded. "Whatever it takes, within reason of course." She smiled. "We promised."
“Oh, I’ll also need Ensign Larose,” John added. “Emmanuelle made by far the best impression with them. I’ll need to get her back from Lieutenant Griffin.” That might be the hardest part of this endeavour, he thought.
"It is the Captain's orders" Krysia looked towards the younglings. "They're terrified of being here without the people they've gotten used to since losing their parents. I'm going to stay with them until they get off this ship."
John nodded. "Alright. I'll set things up. Be prepared to move the kids. We may not have much time, but a freighter beaming things to different ships around the station shouldn't draw as much attention as we would."
“That would be great. Thanks John” Krysia smiled. “In the meantime the kids will be staying with me.”
John nodded. “We’ll signal you when we’re ready to proceed.”
-- Two Hours Later, Tellarite Freighter --
Lieutenant John Sandoval and his yellow-haired, purple-clad security attaché stood on the transporter pad of the Irokari-hired Tellarite freighter. Before them stood the Tellarite Captain and Irokari Chief Rivain.
“Chief,” he said with a smile and polite nod. “Captain.” Emmanuelle did the same.
John held in his one hand a cane and in the other a case, the weight of which threw off his balance. He passed his cane to Emmanuelle and gripped her arm, and the two slowly stepped down off the transporter pad and onto the main deck. John set the case on a nearby workstation and opened it, revealing a half-dozen EPS relays and a stack of blank isolinear chips. “As agreed.”
The captain looked at it, nodded, closed the case, and took it away. “Give me coordinates when you have them. Just don’t waste too much of my transporterman’s time. They’re your problem now, Rivain.” He walked out of the room, leaving only the chief of the Irokari delegation, the two Starfleet officers, and one other Tellarite manning the transporter.
John took his cane back from Emmanuelle and nodded to her. She tapped her commbadge. “Away team to Pandora. Ready to transport the children over.”
"Understood. Give us a couple of minutes." Krysia stood looking at the children, now she'd finally earned some trust she was sorry to see them go. "Good luck young ones!" She knelt down to say goodbye. "Don't be afraid, you'll be home with your family in no time."
"This won't hurt, I promise." the doctor said, as she picked up two hypospays, handed over to her by Nurse Renora, and injected both children. "A concentrated vitamin compound." she explained, turning to Krysia, then back to the kids. "You very much need it after hiding in those dark places for so long." She then turned to the children with a friendly smile. "Take care of yourselves. You'll be home soon."
Getting to her feet Krysia gave the children one last smile. "Kaleri to Sandoval. The children are ready." She offered a watery eyed wave to the two younglings, in the short time she'd known them she'd actually managed to become attached to them. "Be safe!"
The two younglings held hands, the girl giving a smile to Kaleri and Alves. "Thank you." She said out loud.
John nodded to the transporter Chief, who activated his machine and the two small children came across. Scared and confused, John smiled warmly. “It’s okay. You’re safe. My name is John, and this is Emmanuelle and Rivain. We’re friends of Krysia and the Doctor.”
Knowing they could trust the man and the aliens, because the nice lady had said so, the girl and boy went willingly with them. They were off Paradise and out of danger now. Though they would never truly forget the awful events that had occurred on the station, they were free to live a life away from that world. A better life.
