Mission: New Moon Rising
Location: Mess Hall
Timeline: Current

Van entered the mess hall to the inviting smell of fresh dishes being cooked and served. Along the standard wall of replicators was a chef on duty. While the smell was enticing, Van decided on the latter, opting to replicate a few of his favorite oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies.

In the sheen of the replicator screen, one of the crew had caught his attention. It was Lt. Commander Glyndar. The Ships XO is sitting by herself near one of the panoramic windows at the rear of the mess.

Having made his way over, Van was dressed down in casual attire. Not more than his tee shirt and cargo shorts, he was on an off-duty stroll throughout the ship. Silver mug of caffeine in hand, cookies in the other he helped his self to a seat opposite the XO.

“Commander Glyndar. Salutations. You have not replied to my request for physical.” He acted puzzled. “Why?” He knew full well. Most of the Command staff he attended rarely jumped at Medic requests.

Janet had been looking down, reading a PaDD and reviewing several personnel files, quite distracted. She had not even noticed the chair across from her being pulled out let alone the man taking a seat in it. Then he greeted her and after sizing her up, fired his probing inquiry at her which caused her to look up at the medical officer and cock her head. "You caught me red collared, Doctor" she said setting the PaDD down atop the table and picking up the mug of hot apple cider, taking a sip and swallowing.

She shook her head and lifted her hand, waving it dismissively. "I meant no offense by not coming. I have had several requested come across my desk...it's buried. I will come in for a physical. I promise" she said trying to reassure him. "There's a lot more duties and responsibilities as First Officer. I am still getting used to everything" added Janet.

“I do not offend Commander easily.” He replied. Taking a bite of his baked good he offered Janet one.

Janet nodded. "Well, that is good to know" she commented.

Lt. Kolbeck sensed the Commander’s operational and emotional wavelength in her commanding tone within the first few seconds of having taken a seat. He could sense her character was not one of cold, but rather operational and no-nonsense. Something Kolbeck appreciated. In a way, Commander Glyndar was most like his Parents. His Mor og Far offered tough love leaving sparse encouragement, rather as a carrot to always strive for more. Or he could be easily wrong; he would not judge so early.

“As soon as it is possible I would like to have a Medical Checkup with you and your little one. Soren.” He let a small, encouraging nod and a slight smile. He did not want to scare her away with too much emotion.

“Ah!” Kolbeck reached into the side pocket of his brown Khaki cargo shorts, pulling out a standard Medical Tricorder. He then began to punch in a few keys beginning scans on Lt. Glyndar while they ‘chatted.' He often found catching the tiger by their tail didn’t last long. He set the tricorder at the mess hall table as to not draw much attention.

“I do have open spaces. I can make house call yes if lil one requests so?” It would perhaps be easier on the newborn.

Lieutenant Commander Glyndar looked at the man, her mouth slightly ajar as she watched him. He was taking scans and it lead her to just shake her head dismissively. "I never thought I would be having someone trying to give me a physical in the Mess Hall" she said with a smirk. "Are you even on duty, Doctor? Would anything you say or do count...officially?" she teased. "I can bring Soren in soon" she added.

Kolbeck looked around them by means of the Commanders comment. He smirked. "I work thus so." He focused on her. He paused and relaxed taking a look at the Commander. She had an aura... "Good. It will be tomorrow. 0730." He let out his first offer, poker face full-on.

Janet crossed her arms and glared at him. "0100" she said shaking her head. "Are you insane, Doctor, or have you had too much to drink? I am not going to bring my child in at 0100. 0600 at the earliest and that is final" she said firmly.

Kolbeck nodded. "I shall have tea, coffee, and warm swaddling for the lil' one." He added finishing up his chocolate chip cookie. He clasped his tricorder closed. He was preparing scans of the crew for the upcoming Carwennian Corridor and the possible long term verse side effects of DNA radiation, to the most vulnerable of the crew, the little ones.
