A Bolian at Your Door

Mission:
The Gauntlet
Location: Mindo's Quarters
ON
There had been a shift since Lieutenant Commander Mindo ascended into the position of First Officer, something that Farizah had not anticipated, not planned for, and yet was fully feeling. Her behavior at the holiday festivities was an effort to make her intentions known, planting a kiss on Mindo underneath a strategically placed mistletoe. Though her plan did not exactly go according to plan. Mindo and her were not any closer than they had been, and if anything, it recoiled them both back to their respective corners; however, Farizah was not ready to give up. She made advancement on the Bridge while Mindo was seated in the First Officer's seat. Now? Now, she was standing outside his quarters and leaned forward pressing the chime. It's now or never, Farizah she thought to herself, taking a bit of a deep breath.
Mindo had just gotten out of a hot shower and was taking great satisfaction in putting on his regular, non-insulated uniform. It was a welcome feeling after the freezing climate had kept layers of clothing on him at all times. Now they were through the Rentara nebula, putting the cold holidays and Iconnu Expanse behind them.
Mindo heard the chime at the door just as he finished putting on and activating the boots that allowed him to hover at regular height. "Come in!" he yelled, hovering his way out to the living area of his quarters.
"Commander," Farizah Alani addressed the man upon entering his quarters. She couldn't help but smile at him. Being alone, having the privacy to be less than formal, but she opted to go a formal route playfully. "You know that you don't need to put those on. Only if you want to. I'm in your home after all."
Mindo hovered over to Farizah and stayed at her height. "To be honest, Lieutenant, I like looking people in the eye when I talk to them. But I do appreciate the sentiment. Please come in and make yourself at home. I was about to make coffee. Would you like some?"
"I would love some coffee," Farizah replied. She had no issue making herself at home, loosening her uniform a bit. "Yeah, I can understand wanting to see people eye to eye especially when you are now in a position of leadership. First Officer certainly changes some things."
Deactivating his boots, Mindo went down to his normal height, taking the two mugs from the replicator. He handed Alani her mug and sat down next to her on his low couch.
"It changes some things, yes," Mindo replied. "That was some stunt you pulled on the bridge."
Farizah huffed a bit. "That was not a stunt. A stunt is what I do when I'm piloting a shuttle with a battle cruiser on my aft," she teased. "That on the bridge? That was me making my intentions clear. Hopefully, you understood them."
"I think the whole bridge crew understood your intentions," Mindo replied with a grin. "You're not exactly subtle. Though I kinda like that about you."
"Well, you know...blue and all," she teased and smiled. "I don't exactly go unnoticed. Though you are correct. I am not subtle." She was glad that Mindo wasn't aloof. "I guess that leave me with a fairly straight forward question. With you being First Officer right now, would you pursue a relationship with a member of the crew?"
"Do you want to be in a relationship with me?" Mindo asked. It was the more direct question that she herself wasn't asking. He felt like he couldn't answer the question without knowing what she wanted.
Farizah looked at Mindo and blushed a little. "Who said engineers weren't forthcoming," she teased. "I would like the opportunity to see where things go. I am not about to abduct you, fly you to the Bolian home world, and put you into a marriage bonding" she joked. "To be up front with you, I was married. I only recently was able to legally get out of that arrangement which as you can imagine from Bolians...was a bit complex."
Mindo chuckled. "Things are a bit complex for Fesarians as well," he said. "I'm afraid I'm no exception. Having an exclusive relationship is not exactly my strong suit. Then again, nobody has ever asked me to be in a relationship. Everyone I've been with has just assumed we were. It's led to some very nasty situations and a lot of hurt feelings."
The Bolian stuck her tongue out at Mindo. "Exclusivity can bite me," she added after retracting her tongue. "I just want to date. I am friggin bored of just returning to my quarters after my shift is over and waking up alone in my quarters. It was either get out and date, or become a crazy cat lady. I do not know what the limit of felines aboard a Luna class starship is per quarters, but I have a feeling it would be best I did not go that route. You can see other people if needed, but I need to companionship with someone smarter than the people I normally end up with."
"Ah! You think I'm smart," Mindo said. "I'll be honest, you're more interesting to me than most Ops officers. You're also the most gorgeous Bolian I've ever seen, and there are some looker Bolians out there."
"I do not think you are smart, I know that you are smart," replied Farizah first and foremost. "Why thank you," she added. "Bolians are certainly more attractive than Klingons. At least in my book," the Bolian teased. "So, what do you think about this proposition, Commander?"
"I don't care for waking up alone either," Mindo replied. "And since I've been promoted, I've had some trouble with that." He flashed a mischievous smile and took her hand. "Forget rank. Let's have some fun together!"
Farizah blushed and couldn't help but grin with a proposal like that. "Well, I am a gal who loves a good time and having some fun with you is exactly my idea of a good time," the Bolian replied. "Waking up alone can truly suck, but rolling over and finding someone else there can be a delightful reminder of the liberties of life."
Mindo smiled again. "We should do that some time," he remarked. "But for now, let's get some brunch. I heard of a place on Carnwennan that makes amazing omelets. And since we're on shore leave, maybe we could spend the day together."
Farizah smiled and blushed. "Mindo, that sounds absolutely wonderful. Let's go see about those omelets" the Bolian said agreeing with his suggestion. She felt like this was going to be one of those perfect days.
