A Meeting with the Captain

Mission: New Moon Rising
Location: Shuttle Bay; Marine Country

Leo smoothly walked out of the hatch of the runabout as it's engines shutdown and stepped out onto the deck, his neatly shined boots making contact with it with a gentle click. He reached up and gently adjusted and neatened his beret with his free hand, his other occupied with three PADDs, once with a red border around the casing. He paused and walked towards the door at the edge of shuttlebay and stepped through as the door 'wooshed' and into the corridor, stopping for a moment to watch some of the crew walk by. His first job now he was aboard was to find the Skipper and deal with the business contained in two of the PADDs he was carrying.

Nyx was already hurrying down the corridor in the opposite direction, having come down from his meeting with Lieutenant Brennan and Ensign Griffin, at the news of an important arrival. He had only received word that the Pandora would have a Marine attachment half an hour prior, and now he was on his way to meet the Marine CO. Starfleet sure was moving quickly to get their mission underway, and they were ensuring it would be as interesting as possible.

He looked up from his PADD, still trying to find his bearings on the new ship, when he laid eyes upon a familiar face. Nyx immediately broke into a wide smile.

"Major Haliwell, what are you doing onboard my ship?" Nyx exclaimed jokingly, reaching out to shake the man's hand.

Leo chuckled as he spotted a familiar face heading towards him, their head still down. Leo began to count in his head '1...2...3...' and chuckled again as Nyx looked up. Leo smirked a little and took the offered hand firmly, the smirk transforming into a grin "Well, It seems as tho Command saw it fit to coop us up in the same place again." he commented playfully, releasing the hand and taking two of the PADDs out of his other hand, including the one with the red border, and offered them to Nyx "You'll want to read the Intel PADD...It's not pretty" he paused, then reached up to adjust his beret, waiting for the skipper to respond.

Nyx let out a chuckle, "Now I'm starting to think the Inconnu Expanse should be afraid of *us*!"

He laughed as the two made their way towards the Turbolift. Nyx laid eyes upon the high security Intel PaDD in Haliwell's hand and shook his head as he realized the Major's appointment was no coincidence, "Of course it's not pretty, why else would they send an old grunt like you, eh?"

Nyx recieved the PaDD in his own hand and paused, "Mind if we take this to our Executive Officer, Lieutenant Commander Glyndar? I want her to be across whatever wild goose hunt Starfleet is sending you boys on."

Leo gave a hearty laugh and smirked "Aye, I'd say so, they let me bring my old team with me..." he paused and chuckled "...Plus I got one of the best Marine pilots I know assigned." He paused, then snorted as he was referred to as old "You know, Nyx, I was enjoying some planet side time, terrorising SO trainees, but, it seems they think you need babysitting..." he commented mischievously, before winking. "...and, this is the first intel I have seen on that scum in months. And, I do not mind you reading the exec in, just make sure you make it abundantly clear to them, that anything said regarding this stays between us three."

"Commander Glyndar is an accomplished and professional officer," Nyx replied, raising an eyebrow, "She might not be terribly pleased but I know she'll work her butt off to get the job done."

The Turbolift doors closed and Temple leaned against the railing, folding his arms casually across his chest.

"Computer, deck two," The Captain called out and the turbolift began its rapid ascent to the top of the Pandora. "How's the family, anyhow?"

He paused and leaned against the wall of the turbolift and chuckled "Ah, Well, Junior just got his first command post, aboard the USS Devonshire commanding a Battalion, and got his Major promotion..." he snorted "...Seems his determination to catch up with me finally came to fruition. Other than that, its been quiet, Mother has been enjoying her retirement finally and has finally stopped pestering me on a weekly basis." he said, emphasising the 'finally' both times.

"That's great for young Leo," Nyx smiled, "Bet he was the most eager grunt in the squad if he was trying to fill your shoes, eh."

He laughed at the Major's comment on his mother, "Suppose you'll have an excuse to not call back while we're in the Expanse. Spacial interference. At least that's what I'm hoping for. My mother will never retire, I'm sure of it. She'll be a politician until the day she passes and even then, she'll have a list of things for me to do."

Leo leaned a bit harder against the turbolift wall and chuckled gently as Nyx spoke about his mother "I dread to think what instructions my mother would leave me..." he commented and shrugged.

"I know what mine would be," Nyx looked to his boots, a moment of sadness passing through, "Unfortunately Emilie chose to stay back on Earth, with Katrine. I'm going to be spending most of this trip without much contact with my family and to be honest I don't know how I'm gonna cope."

Leo paused and reached out, placing a hand on Nyx's shoulder "Damn, that's rough Nyx..." he paused and furrowed his brow "...but in the same strand, where we're going isn't a place for them, because you'd feel a hell of alot worse if anything happened to them." he said, attempting to be as comforting as an old marine could be "You're welcome to stop by my cabin for meals if y're ever feeling lonely... Between us, I tend to have company... and company I need y' to meet." he said with a slight chuckle.

The lift eased to a stop and the doors opened to let them out. Nyx waited for the Major to depart first and followed soon after, pointing the way towards the XO's office.

Nyx smiled, "Yeah, that's what she said too but it still doesn't feel right being separated from my family. Thank you for the offer Major, I'm going to hold you up on it. But what's this about company?"

Leo stepped out of the turbolift and began to move in the indicated direction, chuckling a little as he walked slowly "Y're Welcome, Sir. And, Aye..." he paused, smirking devilishly "...Captain Wallace and I have had a... thing, for the past six months or so, helps that her Starfighter Flight is permanently attached to whatever unit I command, as she specialises in Special Operations." he commented with a larger smirk

The Captain laughed, "You're a suave one, Major. I hope you'll still be able to focus on the task at hand. By which I mean, the mission."

Nyx laughed again, showing it was a joke. Of course he knew the Major was a consummate professional but he was still going to get teased a little for eyeing off his own XO.

Leo laughed heartily and quirked a brow playfully "Oh aye, I can concentrate, because Beth would murder me if I let her be a distraction." he commented, chuckling again "But, I know you are going to tease the daylights out of me about her" he added, smirking again before straightening his face as they approached the Exec's Office "...But, we'll speak about that more later."

"Aye," Nyx laughed, giving him a friendly poke on the man's burly shoulder, "We will definitely talk about that later."

The two had arrived at Commander Glyndar's office and Nyx was filled with excitement and trepidation about what was in store for this mission. Of course their journey into the Inconnu Expanse was never going to be easy, but Starfleet Intel sure had a way of making their lives more difficult. Still, knowing that the Major was going to be onboard and running this Op gave him a sense of relief. He trusted the Major would get the job done.
