Having finished her meeting & meal with Mindo Krysia had heard about the return of Owen & his party to the ship. Making her way to his quarters she decided it was about time they had a talk about family & time he knew who she really was. Arriving at the door she pressed the door chime & waited for the door to open.
After recent events, Owen was happily putting his quarters back together as the recent battle between the Carnage and the Pandora had given the Luna Class vessel a pounding. He was finally getting somewhere when he heard the door chime.
"Its open!" He called out as he finished moving the Sofa back into place. Looking up he saw Lt Kaleri standing in the doorway.
"I hope I'm not intruding?" Krysia smiled
"No, not at all Lieutenant," Owen said as he stood up and offered her a seat. "What can I do for you?" He asked the Pandora's newest Chief Operations Officer. Having recalled her record, Owen was happy to have such a fine officer step into his old senior position.
"I have something I need to tell you" She made her way over to the sofa and sat down. "I'm not sure exactly how to say this so I'm just going to say it... I'm your half-sister."
Bam! Just like that it felt like someone had hit him with a 20 ton anvil slap bang on the side of his head. "Ok... Your definitely not Issy... I know that for a fact... Did Janet put you up to playing a practical joke on me?" He asked, feeling a little stunned & confused as he sat down in his armchair.
Krysia shook her head, "Perhaps I came out with it a little too soon haven't you ever wondered why I've served on the same ships as you?, I requested those assignments just so I could get to know you."
Owen took a moment to gather his thoughts in the mire that had suddenly been thrust upon him. This immediately posed questions that needed answers. "Okay, so straight away I know for a fact that my mother passed away back in 2375 during the war... So if we have the same father...who is your mother?" He asked calmly. Knowing that it had been over ten years meant they didnt share the same parents.
"My mother is the Drax Ambassador she was on an Ambassadorial trip aboard your father's ship, she inadvertently made a telepathic bond with him. Long story short they spent an unintended night together and here I am!" she sighed, "I'm sorry I wouldn't blame you if you wanted me to leave now."
Owen leaned forward in a calm manner. "No, dont go... I dont want you to go," he explained. "Listen, the universe has a twisted sense of humour so there are obviously ways and reasons as to why we've grown up seperately...so what I'm saying is I want to know more about the half sister I just found out about."
Owen went over to the replicator to order himself a drink. "Can I get you something? I know I need a drink...of some description."
Krysia breathed a sigh of relief at not finding herself out on her backside in the corridor, not that she thought Owen would kick her out. "No I'm fine thank you" she smiled, "would it interest you to know that you have a half sister who's telepathic, empathic and when I get to train to use it telekinetic as well?" She grinned, "I was always too busy trying to make a good impression on you on our last two ships to really tell you anything else. I'm also currently the only Drax outside our system besides the ambassadorial parties."
Owen sat back down in his chair with the Bolian Tonic water he ordered and placed both his glass and canister on the table before him. He could tell that this was an exciting moment for Krysia and that there was a lot to cover.
"Wait... What?" He responded back as he tried to get things in alignment. "Ok... I have some questions but lets take this one at a time..."
"I'm babbling aren't I?" she blushed, "sorry! I just always dreamed of having a chance to get to know my family, speaking of which... do you think your dad.. OUR dad will accept me?"
Owen could see a lot of expectation and concern resting on Krysia's shoulders and also the hope of acceptence. But he wanted to sort things out first. "I'll be honest, I'm pretty sure Dad will be overjoyed at this news but lets get some things straight first," he stated. "So you say you are half human, half Drax... What is a Drax may I ask?" He started with the obvious question first to help lay some foundation.
"Of course" Krysia smiled, "Drax are from Drax Prime, just think of us as Betazoids but a little more powerful. For Drax telekinesis is normal but I haven't really tried mine yet, I've not really had the time for it and when I did try I couldn't do it. We're rarely found away from our home planet apart from the ambassadors I'm somewhat of an unknown back there."
Owen understood the importance of Krysia's decision to join Starfleet and also the fact that Drax rarely left their home. That made her unique in his eyes and he was glad that she had finally decided to get in touch with her family.
There was the question of why she decided to join the Pandora though, despite the fact that she had decided to finally meet her half brother. "So what other skills do you bring to the job, Krysia?" He asked. "I've always been in either Operations or Engineering during my career, I was wondering what your choices were?" He asked.
"I'm not just Chief Ops I'm also the ships archaeologist and anthropologist I gave some thought to taking up Counselling but I changed my mind. I guess you could say Ops runs in the family."
Owen smiled at her remark. "Yes it certainly does, although both Dad & Issy worked in the various Science divisions as they made their way through to the Command divisions... So yes, your definitely following the family traits...and you picked a great ship to serve on... Is there anything else you'd like to know?" He offered. Internally he was starting to feel a bit more at ease with the idea of a new sibling.
“I have a hundred and one questions!” she paused to think, “is there a chance I could get to meet your... our... father?” She looked at Owen hoping he’d say yes, “I’d like to go with you if you don’t mind taking me when we get a chance.”
"Well that sounds like a good idea to me, I'm sure its something we can get arranged pretty soon," Owen happily agreed. "If need be, we can take a Runabout or hitch a lift back to Federation Space with the Palatine and meet up with Dad on the USS Maiden..." He offered. Knowing how much his...their father missed their mother, Owen knew this would be news to cheer him up.
Krysia smiled warmly, "Just let me know when, I'd love to meet him"
Owen smiled. "Absolutely, but first get yourself settled in on board the Pandora," he advised. "Once we get some time to head off to the Maiden, you'll see how impressive a ship she is... Dads gonna love this."
"Anyway... I think I've held you up long enough for now" she smiled, "I'll go and let you have some free time while you've got chance. Thank you for accepting all of this, I wasn't sure how you'd react."
Owen stood up and walked over to Krysia and gave her a hug. "Welcome aboard the Pandora but more importantly... Welcome to the family," he said before letting her go.
