Temple was alone in his office, as he had so often been since the end of their conflict with the Ravagers. The lights were dim except for the bright screen of his PADD as he read over his incident reports again and again. He wasn't sure what time it was exactly; he knew he should probably be visiting his quarters soon, but something compelled him to stay and re-read these reports excessively.

Walking up to the ready room door Krysia paused and straightened her uniform before pressing the chime, hearing the Captain's voice call her to enter she walked inside. "Lieutenant Krysia Kaleri reporting for duty Captain."

Nycolas stood and pulled at the hem of his own jacket, which had gotten turned around somehow. He blinked slightly as the lights in the room brightened up again. "Welcome, Lieutenant, I'm glad you were able to come onboard so soon."

“I’ve been looking forward to getting onboard Sir” she smiled warmly, “I don’t like hanging around.”

Moving slowly, still tending to his limping right leg, Nyx moved around the desk to shake the new officer's hand. "Would you like a drink?"

“A glass of cold water would be nice please Sir, thank you” Krysia watched as her new CO headed for the replicator she didn’t need her empathy to know how he was feeling she could see it just by looking at him.

“Water.” Nyx repeated, more to himself, as he fired up the replicator and the drink appeared before him. He hobbled back towards the Lieutenant and put on a smile.

“Thank you Sir” Krysia smiled as she took the glass and took a nice long sip, the cold water was nice & refreshing. “Captain Rao was kind enough to allow me to help out aboard the Palatine on my way here.”

“He’s a legend that Captain Rao,” Nyx remarked with a nod. “He’s been so helpful to the Pandora, to me personally and the ship. We’re lucky to have him around.”

“He made me feel very welcome, it was a pleasure to have chance to get to know him” Krysia smiled.

“So,” Nyx returned to his seat, “How versed are you on our recent activities?”

“I read up as much as I could, things didn’t go quite as planned this time from what I understand, but in my opinion any mission you can return from is a success in itself.” She grinned, “I’m an eternal optimist I always look on the bright side where possible.”

Nyx leaned back in his chair and studied the officer for a moment. She was friendly, positive, self-assured; she had a confident air. They needed that on the Pandora, the Captain was feeling anything but sure right now.

“Indeed, things did not go as planned.” Temple replied with a slow nod, “They often won’t go to plan out here in the Expanse. I need adaptability and resilience in my officers. This won’t be a regular tour of duty.”

“Then that is what you’ll get Sir” Krysia nodded, “I don’t like to give up & I’ll do my best at all times.”

“Good to hear.” Nyx smiled, “I’m sure you’ll fit in fine here.”

“There is a matter you need to be aware of Sir” She motioned to the PADD that contained her orders and personal information, “Have you had a chance to look at my family details?.” She waited for Nyx to pick up the PADD and look, “he doesn’t know it yet but Commander Nash is my half brother.”

Nyx paused as he reached for the PADD and cast a tracing eye over the Lieutenant. It was an odd statement to make and one that had definitely caught him by surprise. He wondered if she was joking for a moment but he could see that she was indeed serious. Raising his eyebrows, he continued to look at the information and it appeared to check out.

“We’ve been out of contact with the Starfleet network.” Nyx commented. “So our database hasn’t been updated for a while. If this... information has come to light while we’ve been in the dark matter, it likely hasn’t reached us yet. I would prefer that he’d hear it from you, first, however.”

“I'm Commander Nash's half-sister" she paused to let the information sink in, "we have spoken about it & Owen seems quite happy we've served together twice before we work well together.”

The Captain took a moment, staring at the Lieutenant for a moment. This was a surprise he was not intending to hear today. A part of him believed that Owen would be happy with this news, but he didn't want to speak for his Executive Officer. So instead, he just slowly nodded, “Well, that's good news. He’s a consummate professional.”

"Indeed he is Sir" she smiled, "Speaking of which I'm looking forward to getting on with my duties."

“There’s a lot to do.” Nyx remarked. “We’re transferring supplies from the Palatine and you’ll need to coordinate their distribution, and we have repair crews working on the damage from the Ravager battle. We also have orientation with a dozen new crew members. I’m hoping to give the crew a week’s rest before we continue into the Expanse so you’ll have time to catch up.”

Krysia nodded, “Sounds like I’ve got my work cut out for me then Sir” she smiled, “I’ll get everything sorted and organised in good time.”

"Very good." Nyx smiled and then stood, "I promise we'll have a proper greeting and get to know you session soon, once everything's calmed down again."

"Thank you Sir I'll look forward to it" Krysia smiled as she turned to leave, "I'll keep you updated on progress."

"I look forward to it," Nyx nodded. "And Lieutenant? Welcome to the Pandora."
