“No. I don't think I could have more than three." Ens. Doris said. She handed Lt., JG Doctor Brookes, a laser scalpel.
"Computer. Initiate laser scalpel interface. Level three intensity, reprint and realign cellular cytogenesis of L3-L4." Some tricky surgery was being performed on a crew member who had an enlarged bulge in their spine.
=/\= Initiating...=/\=
"Pressurization of L3 lamina column is reducing." Ensign Doris stated. The sickbay central computer showing the spinal column.
The laser scalpel singed at the microcellular level. Having a specialized interface allowed Tyson to see the virtual cellular chondrocyte formations and the corrections of the laser.
“I couldn’t have more than one. They demand too much attention! Charles sheds enough as it is.” He replied to Doris talking about both her and Tyson’s felines.
"Computer report vertebrae cohesion axil latera.”
=/\= Proximal strata vertebrae 9.44% adherenence myoplastic. 44.3% corresponding and completing. =/\=
“That is the number.” Tyson focused on his 3-D view of the microsurgery at the L3-L4 of the patient laying on the surgical bed of the room. The lights overhead bright and shining downward.
“Hypospray. 33.4% Methylprednisolone. 2% Propoxyphene.” He held out his hand.
Just then one of the computer monitors began an alert from Tyson’s office. “No.” He paused for a moment. The sound of the alarm from his office was alerting Dr. Brookes that there was a possible problem with Lieutenant. JG Kaleri. “Kaleri.”
“Doris, Adaestron. Finish up here. Sterilization and level 1 care watch for Lt. Hennessey here…” The two Medical officers acknowledged their orders from the Chief.
After having finished sterilizing he has at the biobed, he quickly tapped at his communication badge. “Brookes to Kaleri, are you there?” He asked concerned.
“Cancel ala…” He looked at the biomonitor readouts. His face looked concerned. The patient on the monitor, Kaleri, was experiencing a supraorbital vascular bleed nearing her optical chiasm.
Suiting his medical case Brookes tapped his com badge. “Computer medical emergency transport to Lieutenant Kaleri’s quarters.”
---Lieutenant JG. Kaleri’s Quarters---
Krysia had been sitting in front of the table for a little while now, trying to make the coin she'd moved before move again. It had taken a LOT of effort but it had eventually moved the tiniest fraction, pleased with that she stood and went into the bedroom to get ready to grab a few minutes rest, having promised Owen she’d take it easy, putting on a nightdress she blotted her nose as a small trickle of blood once again appeared. Waiting to make sure it had stopped she slipped under the covers and lay down to sleep.
A little while later she was awoken by wet on her pillow, sitting up she was about to get up when there was more than a drip, "Computer... lights!” as the lights came on she turned to look at her pillow horrified to see a pool of blood on what was a clean pillowcase, in a panic her first thought went to Owen, she reached for her comm badge and hit it hard.
=/\= Kaleri to Nash... Owen I NEED you!!! =/\=
Owen was having trouble sleeping when he heard Krys' call on his combadge. With her urgent tone concerning him, Owen quickly got dressed and ran down the hall from his quarters. As soon as he arrived, He banged on the door and heard Krys shout to it to open
It wasn’t long before Krysia’s bedroom door swished open her nightdress and the hand towel she'd managed to get were slowly getting soaked with blood “Owen... I’m scared I don’t understand what’s going...” she didn’t finish the sentence instead she crumpled into a heap on the floor.
"KRYS!!" Owen ran to her side, scared of what he saw before him. As he looked up, Owen saw Dr Brookes beam in next to them.
"Doc! Whats happening to her??" Owen demanded, trying to keep his panic down to a minimum.
Having beamed into Kaleri’s quarters on an emergency beam in, Tyson was prepared for anything. He had done this a few times on other vessels.
“It’s going to be alright.” Tyson reached for Krysia and held her by the shoulder. He then directed her steadily to sit back down on the bed in her quarters. “It will be fine, trust me.” Tyson furrowed his eyebrow, reaching forward and taking out his medical tricorder immediately.
The scanners began to highlight the drop in blood pressure, indicating Krysia’s dizziness. The throbbing in the head would also suggest a ruptured vascular membrane is having issues.
Tyson reached into his medical kit for a hypospray and punching as fast as he could a dosage of 33% Trianoline. Trianoline would help to counteract the bleeding in the blood-brain barrier, his tricorder was signifying…
Applying the hypospray to Lieutenant JG Kaleri’s neck, he pressed. Sending the medication to work its magic immediately.
“Mr. Nash please…” He gestured for Owen to stand by him, and help prop up Kaleri. Tyson nodded to Owen as he was ready. “Computer, emergency medical transport to Main Sickbay.”
Sick Bay
The emergency medical transport directed their beam for both Tyson, Nash, and Kaleri to the main sickbay cluster biobed in the center of the room.
In the sickbay, Tyson with Nash and Adaestron both centered around the biobed. “Computer initiate level one brain tissue scan. Set up a Hyperion phase stabilizer centered on patients anterior-posterior brain quadrants for stabilization.”
=/\= Working… =/\= The Sick Bays mainframe began integrating the various energies and frequencies from the biosensor clusters at Kaleri’s head. She lay on the table at the moment…
Krysia's world was slowly starting to make a little sense, her throbbing headache was getting better & now her bleeding was under control she started to feel more reassured. She slowly opened her eyes and looked at Owen. "Sorry..."
"Hey, theres time for apologies later," Owen eased to her. "Lets get you back on your feet when your ready, besides, Doc Brookes is taking care of you."
"This was my fault" she whispered, right now she had very little energy for anything else. "I was trying... to move the coin."
Owen looked a little confused. "You were trying to move a coin? All this... Because of a coin?" Owen asked. He looked at Dr Brookes in a confused way.
Tyson was halfway into completing a process of working out Lieutenant Kaleri's bios; using a proximal scanner and repairer for the prevention of intracranial hypertension.
Secondary work to critical care for the patient was the optimization of cerebral hemodynamic and oxygenation percentage ratio, scanned from Brookes medical tricorder.
He took from the side of his lab coat, overtop his t-shirt and cargo shorts, relaxed like this… Tyson filled his medical hypospray with dihidryoxilphate 0.02% cc. He administered the dosage.
Following up Kaleri’s stabilization efforts would be complete with transcranial Doppler ultrasonography. Treatment would take a while.
Krysia managed a welcome smile as Tyson stood by the biobed, "I had a nosebleed the other night..." she paused to rest for a moment, "I was going to tell you... if it happened again."
Tyson wanted to reply with something positive. Something supportive, but he was at a loss to say something. As a Doctor he was focused on her stabilization as a patient, and her recovery from her neurological trauma. "It is going to be ok Krysia..." He said. He could not believe she did not inform him of her nose bleed. He had wishes his patients would be able to come to him, or to let him know of something at any time day or night. He was the ships Chief of Medical, he should be available 24/7 when called on.
"No more coin moving" Krysia grinned a weak grin. “that’s a promise.”
Owen stroked her head gently. "Just take it easy ok, you'll be up.and around in no time... As long as you do as your told ok?" He was firm with Krys for good reason. He just found out he had another family member. Losing her to some sort of over excited ability was not part of the plan.
Krysia couldn't help but pick up on Owen's emotions & his concerns "I'll do as instructed Owen" she smiled "my mother always warned me I might have problems" she looked towards Tyson he'd been a good friend since they'd met on their transfer to the Pandora, "I'm sure the good doctor will sort me out."
"Ship shape in no time, thats a promise!" Tyson winked at Krysia as a friend, he was glad she was responsive as she was at the moment, this were a good sign that her cognitive abilities were unnaffected from her prior brain trauma event.
"So when can I get back to my duties?" she looked at both Tyson & Owen knowing very well she'd probably get a roasting for asking.
Owen looked over at Dr. Brookes to answer that question. As much as he wanted to have Krys back on duty, he wanted to make sure she was fit for duty first. "Thats up to the good doctor here to declare you fit for duty first," he advised.
Krysia looked at Brookes, “So what do I have to do to get out of here?”
"Uh." He didn't want to answer that one, they both didn't seem to think this was as serious as an event as it was. "Well," He looked at his medical padd. "Lets take it day by day... " He held his medical padd to his self, as if not wanting to drop too much at once. "Krysia you've had a mild stroke event, what we call a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) event. As far as I can tell, it was mild, a small blockage in your intercranial passages. This could be from too high a blood pressure, a point where you've been overworked, over stressing, over your psi abilities we had talked about before Krysia. All this needs to take time to ensure that your different lab results are returning to normal levels." He nodded. "Its ok, you've been through the worst, my prior scans didnt show any issues." He was perplexed.
Owen looked back at his newest Sibling. "In other words, stay here & take it easy, thats an order," he said firmly.
Krysia nodded and sank back down onto the biobed for now all she could do was obey Tyson & Owen's orders.
