Mission: New Moon Rising
Location: Captain's Ready Room

The transport and the rematerialization went by quickly and there she was staring at an unfamiliar Transporter Room. Blinking, the black eyed woman stepped down from the transporter padd. "Lieutenant Temera Lann, permission to come aboard?"

The young Ensign seemed almost confused as to why she was asking him that.

"It's protocol, Ensign..?" Tem smiled warmly at him.

The young man blinked and shook his head quickly, "Yen, ma'am. Donald Yen. Sorry...permission granted."

"Thank you, Ensign Yen." She said, nodding to him as she headed for the exit, "have a good day."

"You too. ma'am." She heard a soft comment behind her back followed by genuine surprise.

With an amused smile, she stepped into the corridor and tried to orient herself. "Computer, please locate Captain Temple."

The computer chimed in her usual loquacious tone, "Commander Temple is currently located in the Captain's Ready Room, Deck One."

Temera nodded on reflex. "Um....could you show me the path to the nearest Turbolift?"

"Please follow the pulsating yellow lines." The computer replied, the blinking yellow lights accompanying the statement.

Again the betazoid woman found herself nodding as she followed the indicated path towards a Turbolift.

Nycolas was supposed to be preparing for his meeting with the Talarian Ambassador, but he found himself staring out the window instead. Carnwennan Station was floating not far off the Pandora's port side, and he mulled over the task ahead. Flying into the Expanse was already dangerous enough, now they had a search mission on their hands with very little details to go on.

He was relieved when the door chimed to take him out of the moment. Returning to his desk, he called out, "Come in."

Lann did her best to clamp her nerves down and present a calm aura to the Captain. As a part Betazoid himself, he would surely pick up on her nerves, if he hadn't already while she approached his office. Him picking up on it most certainly wouldn't do for her first day on the new job. It would not do at all.

Tugging at her uniform, she adjusted the duffel bag on her shoulder and pressed the buzzer.

The response came fairly quickly and the young woman stepped inside. Surprised that the first thing she picked up, even without trying was the fact that the Captain himself was concerned.

"Lieutenant Temera Lann, sir. Reporting as ordered." She announced herself, stepping into attention stance, trying very hard not to look as rigid and stiff as she felt.

Nyx smiled at the Lieutenant, as he stood to shake her hand, "Greetings, Temera, welcome to the Pandora. I'm sorry I'm not more across your bio, it's been an interesting few hours. You are here as our Chief of Strategic Operations?"

Lann shook Nyx's hand firmly, smiling. "Yes, sir. That's me. As for the situation, I hear Colonel Ambassador Sevros has been throwing a fit. His messages were filtered through to my PADD while I was waiting at the station. All I could make out was that his ship hasn't been heard from for over 19 hours? Has he said anything more?"

"Not as yet," Nyx replied with a sigh, "We're still waiting for him to come onboard with his ship's data so we can start tracking it down. Normally we wouldn't involve ourselves in the Talarian's internal operations, but it may result in us gaining safe passage through the Carnwennan Corridor."

He couldn't help but smirk, "And gosh he just asked so darn nicely, too."

Temera chuckled, "I bet. Let me know if there's anything I can do. He won't take to women kindly if he's any kind of true Talarian, so I'll send you PADDs with intel if necessary. Or send one of the boys in." Lann offered.

The captain laughed too, "To be honest, I could care less what he takes kindly to. He can moan about it when he's back on his own ship but we won't be make concessions to our senior staff on his behalf."

The betazoid woman nodded, "true, sir. It doesn't hurt to err on the side of diplomacy however."

"Now," Temple shrugged, turning his gaze to the screen on his desk. "You will have your hands full on the Pandora. Our crew are exceptionally experienced and skilled, absolute dynamos in their fields. We have Chiefs of Security, Intelligence, Operations, and Military, and your primary role will be to help run missions along side one or more of these departments. There will be many times where you'll need to ensure that the right hand knows what the left hand is doing."

Temera nodded, "yes, sir." If we'd had that back on the Falcon, would the Admiral's takeover have happened, I wonder? She thought to herself quietly. "I'll schedule a meeting with them right away, make sure we're all familiar with eachother and on the same page."

"Good, you won't have much time to get acquainted, but we're all jumping into the deep end here," Nyx said, still scrolling through Lann's history, "I see on your bio that you have a lot of scientific experience, too. You've certainly come to the right ship for that and we can have you join Sciences on occasion if you'd like?"

Temera couldn't help but smile, "if Lieutenants Brennan and Wakefield have no objections, I'd love to lend a hand." She said, "naturally only after my primary duties have been fulfilled."

She was finding it a lot easier than she thought it would be. Maybe it was the years, or the training? She wasn't sure. Either way she could feel her confidence grow with each moment.

"Very good," Nycolas nodded, "I'm sure you'll find plenty to do onboard the Pandora eitherway. First I'd recommend talking to Lieutenant Griffin regarding the search mission, so that we're all prepared for whatever we may face."

Lann nodded, catching the serious undertones the man was projecting. "Yes, sir."

Nyx stood again and reached out his hand, "Welcome onboard, Lieutenant. Once things settle down we can have a proper introduction with all the new crew on the Recreation deck."

Temera smiled and nodded, shaking his hand, "thank you, sir. I'll get to work straight away so we don't lose any time."

The captain stood and watched as the Lieutenant left the room and he marvelled at how quickly all of the Pandora's crew had come together and easily integrated into their operations. Nothing seemed to phase them really, or at least not on the surface. He was confident that Temera Lann would fit in well here as well.
