Mission:
New Moon Rising
Location: Turbolift / Sickbay
Timeline: Concurrent with "Candle In the Wind"
As she guided the irate Ambassador to the Turbolift, Temera called for Deck 6. The Lift obediently began moving instantly. The Betazoid focused on the Talarian, opening her senses again, trying to see what she could pick up from him, what she could get him to say even if he didn't want to.
"Ambassador, we will be in Sickbay momentarily and the Doctor will give you a relaxant. What just happened?" She ventured.
A thought occurred to her that there may have been someone on that ship who mattered to the Ambassador aswell.
For his part, Sevros was deep in the Talarian mourning ritual known as B'Nar, an unrestrained and gutteral reaction to grief or tragedy. He continued to howl and rock in an almost unstoppable fashion. Even as they arrived in Sickbay, the Talarian was unchanged from his shrieking and shaking.
"I need a bit of assistance here!" Temera called as she ushered Sevros in.
As soon as Machwen heard the screams of Ambassador Sevros, he stood up, making his way swiftly towards the Talarian. Machwen could feel the grief flooding from him, and turned to Temara, "What's happening to him?" he asked, not familiar with Talarian rituals.
"Severe emotional trauma." Temera said as she helped Machwen, "he is in B'Nar, a mourning ritual of the Talarians. Be advised he may continue this for quite a while unless sedated. Even then, he will likely try to resist."
She gave him a mental brush against his senses, a Betazoid way of saying 'hello' or in their case 'hello again'. However, further chatting would have to wait, a crisis was more important than two old acquaintances meeting again.
Turning round to another doctor, Machwen called out, "Ensign, bring me a methocarbamol hypospray," before turning back to Temara, "let's bring him into bay one," he told her.
As they arrived in bay one, the ensign arrived with the hypospray, which Machwen quickly administered to Sevros's neck. "What's caused this?" he asked Temara.
"His ship adrift in spae with no-life signs. We suspect it was the Tzenkethi."
As the medics attended to Sevros, and the Talarian continued to resist, it became apparent there was more than just the Ambassador's state of grief happening on the Pandora at that moment.
Suddenly the whole ship seemed to rock as the Pandora came under unexpected fire and the ship's Red Alert klaxons sounded.
Temera braced herself against the nearest wall. "Okay, that's not good." Her mind ran over possibilities. The Talarian reprisal was unlikely, so there was only one viable option. The Tzenkethi.
Getting her heart and breathing under control she tapped her commbadge, "Lann to Bridge, what happened?"
There was a mixed chorus of responses as the Bridge were busy mounting a defense, along with the USS Palatine which had shown up not long before the battle began. Finally a ship-wide message rang out and Temera's hunch was correct - the Pandora and Palatine had been engaged by three Tzenkethi heavy cruisers and they were now under attack. Orders were given to prepare to defend the ship as the battle continued.
Meanwhile, three Marines from Major Halliwell's squad entered Sickbay, having been injured on the Talarian vessel when the Tzenkethi attacked, and the squad were emergency evacuated back to the Pandora.
Temera was torn between staying with the Ambassador and returning to the Bridge. Finally, returning to the Bridge won over.
"I need to head back to the Bridge, let me know if his situation changes!" Temera told Machwen, still holding onto the wall as the ship shook. Then finding holds along the way, she moved to leave Sickbay.
"Aye, ma'am." Machwen responded. Ambassador Sevros was starting to calm down, so Machwen went back into the entrance of sick bay to see the Marines. Machwen looked at the injuries, thankfully they looked to be no more than burns. He turned to the ensign from earlier, "Ensign, help me treat these burn wounds,"
"Aye, sir," he replied. The two of them got to work witht he Marines' wounds.
Captain Nyx tapped his badge, =/\= Temple to Lann. I need you, Brennan, and Smith to analyse the logs we retrieved from the Talarian ship and find out what the hell happened out here. =/\=
"This is Lann. Received and understood, sir." Temera tapped her commbadge as she made towards a Turbolift.
=/\= You have half an hour. Temple out. =/\= Came Nyx's response.
A few more injured crew arrived while the dazed and confused Sevros was finally calming down - having taken a number of jabs with a sedative hypospray.
Just as he appeared to be drifting off, his eyes shot open again and he reached out to Machwen, grabbing the Ensign's arm roughly.
"My.... boy... " Sevros gasped. "Please... find... "
Finally he collapsed back onto the biobed unconscious, as his hand fell limply to his side.
For the first time since the Ambassador had arrived, Machwen looked truly concerned, his face losing the usual Betazoid blankness. He stood there, looking at Sevros, wondering what could have happened to his son, if that is what he he meant. Thankfully, the beeping of the monitors and his psionic abilities allowed him to know the Ambassador was still alive.
