Mission:
New Moon Rising
Location: Medical Bay
Timeline: After 'Medically Speaking'
Ensign Machwen Adaestron sat in his office in the medical bay, reading through Lieutenant Commander Nash's medical records, preparing himself for his check-up. He had done this many times before, but he had never had to go through so many at once, nor had he done one on a ship for over a year. Machwen looked down at his watch, Nash was a couple of minutes late. He had multiple patients to see, so he hoped that his schedule wouldn't get too dragged too far behind.
After what seemed to be a morning of never ending issues on board that kept pulling him from one section to another, Owen finally arrived at Sickbay for his long overdue check-up.
He walked in promptly and looked around, taking in the re-designed Sickbay. Spotting an officer nearby he asked, "Hi, I'm here for my medical checkup? My name is Owen Nash," Owen said to the Ensign as he waited to be seen.
Looking up from his PaDD, Ensign Adaestron responded to Lt. Cmdr. Nash, "Hello. I'm Engisgn Adaestron, Cheif Medical Officer." Machwen extended his hand for Nash, "Ensign Adaestron, Assistant Chief Medical Officer."
Owen shook Ensign Adaestron's hand."Pleasure to meet you Ensign, its good to get to know other the other officers on board. There are so many faces on board since my last tour on the Pandora."
"If you could just sit down on the bed, I'll begin your check up," Ensign Adaestron told Lieutenant Nash.
"Ok then." Owen sat down as instructed and waited for the Ensign to begin his examination.
Adaestron began moving the tricorder scanner along Nash's body. Not wanting their to be an awkward silence, Adaestron started asking a few questions. "How long have you been in Starfleet?" he began with.
Owen smiled. "Well I graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2378, " he began, "I spent three years on a starship running supplies to the Romulans after their civil disputes and eventual lead back to one nation...after that I spent most of my career in the Gamma Quadrant...serving on Luna Class ships ironically so I feel pretty at home here," he explained.
"My last assignment was on the Adelaide in the Beta Quadrant, however after hearing that the Pandora was being pulled out of mothballs and put into active service, I jumped at the chance."
Machwen continued to scan Owen, flipping between different settings on his tricorder, "That's quite a bit of experience. This is only my second posting on a ship, although I've been based in a hospital before. What made you join Starfleet?"
Owen nodded to his question. "Well that's a simple one to answer...I'm second generation Starfleet," he answered. "My mother and father were both in Starfleet and it seemed the natural course to follow." he sat and thought for a second. "My mother was killed towards the end of the Dominion War whilst my Father serves as Captain on the USS Maiden currently."
Owen took a moment to think of his loss of his mother and felt the small but almost missable pain of her loss. He straightened himself up as he was examined.
"I'm sorry for you loss," Machwen replied, putting the tricorder attachment back in its case.
"Thank you," Owen said he managed to find a calm way of coming back to the present and being his normal positive self again. He didn't mind having check up's normally but he was feeling a little nervous as it had been a while since his last.
After looking over his tricorder one last time, Machwen looked back up at Nash, "You're all clear, and hopefully you'll keep it that way," he told Nash
Owen stepped down from the biobed with his Medical complete. "I'll try to make sure I stay out of trouble," Owen answered as he thanked the Ensign.
"Have a good day," Machwen responded and nodded his head.
