The Pandora had arrived deep in Talarian territory, at a very simple outpost on a small planetoid. It was as far as Ambassador Sevros believed the Federation vessel should travel, as although he felt gratitude towards the Pandora's crew for their intervention against the Tzenkethi, the rest of the Talarian government still regarded them with distrustful restraint. For his part, Nyx was all too happy to end this solemn task as soon as possible and get back onto their journey to the Expanse.

With the bodies of his former ship, and his son, now being gently transferred from the Cargo Bay of the Pandora to the Talarian station, Sevros was now due to depart their company and return to his home world for a full debrief. He walked down the corridor with Captain Temple and Lieutenant Griffin from his quarters to the Transporter Room, although this journey was decidedly different from when he first arrived into their lives.

"They're already calling me Ambassador Death, you know," Sevros remarked as he walked alongside Nyx. "Like I'm cursed or something. I suppose many believed I should have gone down with my ship."

Nyx nodded along, and gently replied, "There's nothing you could have done. And I've made note of that in my report to your High Council."

"Thank you, Captain," Sevros managed a sort of half smile in response. "It is a pity our diplomatic negotiations with the Federation have been cut short. But as you can imagine, we have a lot to discuss amongst ourselves first."

"Aye," Nyx answered shortly.

"It's a shame," Sevros continued, casting an eye back towards Lieutenant Griffin, "I had a lot more ideas on improving military efficiency for your Security Chief."

"Yes Ambassador," Cailus said drily, the sarcasm as thick as mustard as they walked. "It is indeed a shame."

Sevros actually managed a laugh at Griffin's derisive response, perhaps the first time he'd laughed in days. He dropped back a little and gave the Lieutenant a look up and down, "Are you sure you're not part Talarian, my man? Not hiding a coronal lobe are you?"

Cailus actually winced at that as he shot a pleading look at Nyx, although his mock taunting words gave lie to his grumpy countenance. "No, Ambassador, I'd certainly hope not. Given that the Talarians probably hadn't discovered warp drive by the time I was born, that would be quite problematic. The Federation has very strict laws against interfering with such primitive civilisations."

As they rounded the final bend, Cailus glanced at Sevros again, his expression softening. "That said, sir, it was an honour for my Security personnel to guard you during this journey, and you have my personal sympathy for your loss. I understand what that's like."

However, whilst the three men were walking around the bend, Ensign Adaestron was doing the same - in the other direction. In his attempt to get back to sick bay faster by walking with slight speed, Machwen managed to walk straight into Cailus, knocking Machwen's files all over the floor.

"I'm so sorry Lieutenant, I should have been looking where I was going," Machwen apologised, before beginning to collect his files off of the floor.

TAG Griffin if you want to add something here?

"Ah the good Doctor!" Sevros remarked loudly, though didn't move to help Machwen with his dropped files at all. "Here is another good officer, Captain, a dutiful young man if I ever saw one."

"Indeed," Nyx replied, bending over to help, "He has been an great asset to our ship."

Sevros waited for Machwen to stand again before placing his hands on either one of Machwen's shoulders, "My people owe you a debt of gratitude for your service to our departed warriors. You have taken such care with them, I can only hope my High Council will take that into consideration during the inquiry into this mission."

"Thank you, Ambassador, it's been a pleasure having you," Machwen replied, managing a small smile too. "I'm sorry, but I must be getting back to sick bay."

Machwen turned to Nyx and nodded, "Captain," before walking in the direction of sick bay.

Nyx nodded in return and the group moved into the Transporter room, as the captain gave a quick greeting to the Ensign on duty. Sevros walked up to the transporter pads before stopping and turning around, looking to Temple and Griffin with a half-smile.

He sighed, "I'll be honest, when I first requested your help and came aboard this ship, I thought all you Federation types to be soft-bellied and weak-willed. It comes at great strain to admit that I was wrong about you all. In fact, I will think of the Pandora quite fondly - especially as I face the judgement and disapproval from my own kind now. They won't believe how rigorously you hunted for my ship, how fiercely you defended yourselves, and how kind you were to my crew. I feel as if the Pandora are the only friends I have left now."

Temple gave a side-eye to Griffin, more than a little confused by the Talarian's honesty and unguarded geniality. Clearing his throat, Nyx replied, "We have learnt a lot from this experience, too, Ambassador. I hope our paths cross again, in more favourable circumstances next time."

Sevros just shook his head, "There's a war coming to this region, Captain. We both know it. Those reptiles will either conquer the Corridor or see it burn to nothing. They call me Ambassador Death? My ship was only the beginning."

Nyx nodded quietly, "Then we best be prepared."

"Indeed." Sevros replied, though without much conviction. "I will see if I can grant your ship safe passage on the Talarian border, so you may travel the rest of the Corridor in relative peace. It's least I can do for all you have done for me."

"I appreciate that, Ambassador," Nyx answered, turning to give a nod to the Transporter crew to initiate beaming. "So long, Sevros, and good luck to you."

"Luck?" Sevros scoffed, his haughty smirk returning. "The Talarians make their own luck."

With a flash of blue lights, the Talarian Ambassador was out of their sights and off the Pandora. Nyx turned to Griffin and shrugged, "Well that was an experience."

Cailus responded with a barely visible smile, still looking at the empty transporter pad. "Yes, sir. He makes you really appreciate the Tellarites." Hesitating, he glanced back at Nyx grimly, hands still behind his back. "I hope you weren't planning on using the Corridor again to get back home. Sevros is a pretty powerful man, based on his boasts, and the Tzenkethi are on the warpath."

As he and Nyx left the transporter room, Cailus sighed as they passed through the doors. "I doubt the Carnwennan Corridor will be safe for passage for much longer."
