ON:

Ignatius cursed and moaned as he waded through his store, trying to make his way through the mess of mannequins and merchandise that had been thrown about when the Pandora twirled like a spinning top across the galaxy. With the Starfleet crew obviously focusing on system repairs and injured crew, it was up to the civilian members of the ship to fend for themselves. The clothier had not enjoyed the ship's trip through the Dark Matter, which was not unlike an archaic rollercoaster he'd been on once. But this wave and the effect it had on the ship was something entirely more dangerous and damaging to his store.

Outside the "Flying Pants", Raven Mattel tottered on her stilettos as she helped to direct traffic away from the businesses. Many were still walking around like zombies, confused and probably still dizzy from the effects of the ship's turn for the worse. The queen didn't quite know what to make of this sudden occurrence, but faintly remembered a Starfleet officer had briefed her on the possible dangers of living on an active vessel. She hadn't paid much attention, of course, because she was busy trying to plan out her comeback campaign. So it's possible he had mentioned emergency situations and protocols, though Raven hadn't taken it in.

Tisar stepped out of his shop and onto the entertainment ring. His shop was a mess, but only a few things were broken and they were easily enough replaced. He surveyed the people milling around outside of the shops and watched Raven try and direct traffic. He smiled a little to himself and then moved towards her. "Would you like me to bring you something to rope off the area?" he asked. "I could perhaps get a rope or some tape... Maybe some cones?" the Cardassian suggested, a friendly smile on his face.

Raven was taken aback to see a Cardassian so casually on a Starfleet vessel. She hadn't been keeping up with her intergalactic history but she was pretty sure they used to be at war with each other. Still, no one else seemed to mind and in fact many of the officers seemed to regard him quite respectfully as they passed by. Still, she wasn't quite sure why he was smiling at a time like this.

"Oh. Um. No?" She stammered. "I don't even know what I'm doing, to be honest. Everything's gone haywire all of a sudden. Usually I'm a few Romulan Ales to the wind before the ship starts spinning."

Tisar chuckled warmly. "I believe we've had a bit of a problem, ma'am. I do not believe it was combat of any sort." He'd been on a lot of ships and in a lot of combat. That definitely didn't sound like combat. "I believe we may have run into something, but it appears to be over now. Here... let me help you." He offered her his hand. "Is this your shop here?"

“Oooh honey, I would never do something so provincial as shop keeping,” Raven remarked in her glib fashion, throwing a strand of her blonde weave back over her shoulder.

“It would be mine,” Ignatius replied as he stepped out of the Flying Pants and into the corridor. “I really should have learnt from last time to better secure my fittings and stock.”

The clothier reached out his hand to Tisar. “My name is Ignatius. I’m guessing you would be Tisar?”

"Yes, Ignatius, you are correct. A pleasure to meet a fellow shopkeeper." Tisar took the man's hand and shook it firmly, smiling, before turning his gaze back to Raven. "I could have sworn I had seen you in a shop..." he said to her. "How is everyone fairing?" he asked of them, with concern.

Ignatius bowed as he shook the tall Cardassian's hand. "Indeed it is."

"Everyone's looking pretty shaken up." Raven commented, "Is this kind of thing usual 'round here?"

Ignatius couldn't help but sigh. "Lately it is."

"Well I'm sure those Starfleet folks have procedures," Raven replied with a shrug. "Let's do what we can until the help arrives."

Aoife had been with her nurse, Rebekah Davies, watching the Indigo Sky through the great windows in the Box when everything had gone terrible wrong. Rebekah had watched with horror, holding Aoife close and shielding her eyes when they saw the great wave coming towards the ship, and she attempted to keep the child calm in the ensuing chaos. They had taken a slight tumble, but were no worse for wear, though not everyone around them had fared so well as confusion reigned in the aftermath. People were starting to gather, both in the Box and in the promenade outside, and Rebekah being a nurse wanted to help those that had been injured, but Aoife was so frightened, and with the child's care being her primary charge she held tight to Aoife as she made her way through the crowd to find someone who help help organize the masses.

"Stay calm, kiddo, maybe we can find Miss Huyo and she can get you a cookie for being so brave," Rebekah said to the trembling child in her arm.

Tisar stood outside of the shops, trying to determine the best way to go about calming down some of the chaos before someone got hurt. He took a deep breath. They needed to find out who had a place to go and send them there, who didn't have a place to go and perhaps get them settled into one of the many cafes and try and determine how many people were injured. He was sure with this many people roaming around on the entertainment ring that there had to be injuries. They could use the Box for some sort of triage. He also needed to figure out if anyone out here had any sort of medical training. He stepped out into the flow of traffic, making everyone passing have to deal with him. "Do you have medical training?" he started to ask of anyone around him.

Finally some of the Medical crew arrived to survey the scene and began to attend to some of the injured. They must have been going deck by deck, but at least they had arrived. Raven had planted herself on the ground, tending to the broken heel of her pumps, deciding her bumps and scrapes were not serious enough to worry the Medics. Ignatius appeared soon after, sitting down with a heavy sigh.

“Well there’s not much else I can do.” He said. “I’ve secured the majority of it and cleaned a path, the rest will wait for another day.”

“We could use a drink.” Raven remarked.

Rebekah met up with the medics and got a medkit; she wasn't sure what she could do with Aoife still in her care, but at the very least she could triage and assess who needed immediate attention. As she went forth, she took notice of Tisar calling for help. "Do you need medical attention?" Rebekah asked. She was still in her civilian clothes and held a frightened little fox-child in one arm, but the medkit held in the other hand seemed to suggest she could help.

Tisar smiled at her and stopped his asking. "No no... I'm fine and since the medics are here I suppose others will be fine as well." He noticed Aoife in Rebekah's arms. "What an adorable child! Hello there little one."

"Thank you," Rebekah replied with a weak smile. "Her mother is on the Bridge, has anyone been able to make contact?" she asked as someone approached approached her for help "This is a mess," Rebekah remarked as she tried to juggle with her kit to get her tricorder free. "Nothing is centralized, maybe we should try to direct everyone to the Box. It's a designated safe zone in emergencies, Miss Huyo should be directing everyone there already, I hope she's okay," she said as she managed to get another tool from her kit to tend to a sprained wrist. "You might be sore for a while, but you're be fine now. Find someplace safe to stay and remain calm," she assured her patient, sending the woman on her way.

Tisar was making eye contact with Aoife and making silly faces at her. He held his hands out just a little, testing the waters at how friendly she was. He was good with children and liked them, but not all children were super friendly, if she withdrew, so would he, otherwise he would be more than happy to hold her so Rebekah could function for a moment. "I was thinking that we need to set up a clinic of sorts and make sure everyone that is injured can get help... Yes, the medics are here, but organization could assist..."

Aoife looked back at Tisar shyly, but made no reaction to his attempts to amuse her. Rebekah finally noticed Tisar's gesture to take the child, so Rebekah looked down at Aoife. "How about it, kiddo? You want to go play with him?" she asked, but Aoife just stared warily. "I think she's still in a bit of shock, but if you'd be willing to look after her for a moment, I can help rally everyone into the Box. Just be sure to take good care of her, otherwise her mother will come after you," Rebekah said as she handed Aoife off to Tisar. Aoife whimpered softly, but didn't reach for Rebekah.

"Hello there, little one. You're light as a feather. Here... I have something that I think you might like." He grinned, looking at Aoife and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a small flute. It was a simple, three-holed instrument, made of wood that was a dark cherry in color. A small band of leather was wrapped around it in two places. He showed it to her and then, with one hand, lifted it to his lips and blew. The tone was deep and rich and not at all what might have been expected from such a small flute.

That got Aoife attention, and she reached out to take the little flute; It was just like the one mommy played for her! Bringing it to her lips, Aoife gave the flute a very shy-soft 'toot!'. Seeing that Aoife was not falling into a panic, Rebekah took the opportunity to depart, immediately raising her voice to start directing the frightened civilians to the Box where they could safely gather and receive medical attention.

Raven strutted past, her walk uneven given she was only wearing heel, though she steadfastly refused to remove the other one. She stopped as she saw Tisar holding the small fox-like child while playing a flute, and couldn't help but raise her manicured eyebrow. This was not a sight she had expected to see, though was quickly coming to realise the crew of the Pandora were like an eclectic family.

She stopped and held up her broken heel. "Don't suppose there's a shoe maker on this ship?"

"There is some very powerful glue in my shop... if you think that might do the trick," Tisar suggested softly. He was gently trying to show Aoife how to work the three holes in the little flute. "It is in the long cabinet on the bottom shelf. The code is 81057. There's a little tub in there with Cardassian letters on it. The tub is black and the writing is yellow. Don't get it on your fingers. There should be a stick you can apply it with." He smiled at her. Raven was possibly the most interesting individual that he had met. He wondered briefly where she was from, but didn't think that now was the time to ask.

“Cheers, doll.” She gave a half hearted smile, slinging her heel over her shoulder. She looked to Aoife and gave an exaggerated grin. “What a cutie!” she declared, wiggling her long fingers at the young girl.

Aoife simply stared, uncertain what to make of this new person, so she returned her attention to the little flute; she didn't yet have the dexterity to hold it as the nice man showed her how, but for the moment she was simply amused that she could make sounds with it.

"I'm not really sure whose child she is, but the lady over there was struggling. I like children." Tisar shrugged. "I decided to help. She is rather adorable. I can't say I'm familiar with her species though." He grinned at Aoife, just pleased that she was pleased with the flute. He wished for a moment that he had brought her an ocarina instead as the note holes were closer together. "My name, however, is Tisar..." he said to Raven.

Raven nodded along and suddenly realised she hadn't conducted introductions earlier. Of course it would be easy to blame this oversight on the excitement of the day, but in reality Ms. Mattel was simply unused to introducing herself. People usually knew who she was and she met so many people, she didn't normally bother learning other's names. So she placed an even larger smile on her face and gently touched his arm.

"Pleased to meet you, Tisar, my name's Raven Mattel," she replied. "I wonder if her mother's looking for her?"

Tisar smiled. "A pleasure to meet you, Ms. Mattel. I do believe that she goes with that woman there." He pointed Rebekah out to Raven. "I just wanted to give her the opportunity to use both of her hands and she seems to be doing well at organizing people. Did you come aboard recently? I haven't been aboard very long myself."

"Just arrived." Raven remarked with a small shrug. She looked over to Rebecca and frowned. "Looks like she's part of the Medical team? I never quite studied up on what those Starfleet uniform colours mean. Well, a girl I worked with once said you shouldn't trust a Red Shirt to stick around. Not sure where that comes from."

Tisar chuckled. "I think that she might be the little girl's nurse, but I'm not sure. I think they're referring to the command color being the most likely to die, with their red shirt comment. It makes a certain amount of sense. They are usually in the forefront of combat. It also might suggest that career military as a partner might also not be a good choice since they are likely to be away most of the time." He shrugged. "What about you Ms. Mattel? Where do you hail from?"

Aoife didn't understand a lot of the things the adults were talking about. She understood most of the individual words by now, but they still weren't making a whole lot of sense to her. She stopped blowing on the little flute and looked around, hoping to see either Rebekah, her mother, or Cailus, but when she couldn't see any of them, her ears drooped and so she looked up at the nice man holding her. Then she gave his shirt a small tug to get his attention; Aoife was thirsty and Rebekah had promised her juice, maybe this nice man could get her some juice. Once she had his attention, she didn't know what to do with it; she normally made little chirping noises to indicate what she wanted, which her mother understood easily and Cailus and Rebekah knew the important chirps, but this new person couldn't possibly know, so she tapped her fingers to her mouth, hoping he would understand.

"Oh! Oh I bet you are thirsty!" Tisar felt a little guilty for not even asking the child if she needed anything. "I'm so sorry. We'll get you something to drink at least."

"AMEN!" Raven cried out, throwing her hands into the sky. Noticing the reaction this little out-cry gained from the more somber looking crew around her, she shrugged unrepentantly. "Well it was the best suggestion I'd heard all day."

Displaying her usual preternatural awareness of when someone needed a drink, the tall Huyo popped up next to Tisar and Aoife, a small juicebox and straw ready and waiting. The Deltan looked somewhat disconcerted, her usual work dress a little ruffled, but she flashed everyone a smile as she pierced the box with the straw and gave it to Aoife.

“There you go, sweet Aoife,” Huyo said soothingly before looking at the others. “Raven, Tisar, are you okay? Oh...” Huyo clucked sympathetically as she noticed Raven’s damaged shoe. “Oh Raven, I am so sorry to see that, the shoe looks so gorgeous! You didn’t hurt your ankle, though, that’s the important thing, dear.”

"I've fallen off my heels more times than I care to mention, girl," Raven remarked. "But I hope Mr. Tisar's wonder glue can fix these beauties up."

Aoife took the juice box with a happy chirp, the little flute hanging from one of her wrists by the leather strap. The little box gurgled in between sips while the adults talked, and once Aoife was done, she gave the nice Huyo lady a smile as she handed the now empty box back to her.

Tisar chuckled. "I am glad to see you Huyo. You have saved the day for little Aoife here. That is her name correct? I'm afraid the woman she was with didn't tell me her name. She's been perfect though."

Ignatius suddenly reappeared as he hurried up to the group, a look of disconcerted panic on his usually casual face. "Have you heard?" He asked breathlessly.

“Heard what?” Huyo said apprehensively.

The clothier dipped his head in low and revealed his news in a hushed tone. "The entire Bridge crew is gone. Disappeared. Even the Captain!"

“Oh!” Huyo gasped, her hand covering her mouth in shock. “I heard an engineer in the Box saying something, but it is so horrible that I didn’t believe her... if they aren’t up there, who is running the ship? Where could they have gone? We aren’t anywhere near a planet!” Then the Deltan looked at little Aoife as she took back the empty box, her expression turning horrified. “Oh no, let it not be true. Aoife’s parents are both senior officers. They might have both been on the Bridge...”

Tisar furrowed his ridges. "That doesn't sound good." He attempted to put a hand on Huyo's shoulder in comfort. "There is always a secondary crew in place... we will still be in good hands," he tried to assure her. Although, if it was the entire senior staff things could get interesting fast and not necessarily in a good way. However, they weren't on a Klingon vessel, Starfleet had chain of command in place for these events. He was determined to keep his ears open though, just in case they needed some help.

Raven bit her lip as she looked around to the worried faced around her; suddenly the situation had gotten a lot more dire than a broken stiletto. "Okay, now I definitely need a drink."
