Nyx had been making his rounds through the ship after lunch and it occurred to him he hadn't seen much of Chief Research Officer Lieutenant Wakefield in the past week, though understood she was probably sequestered away conducting research. Still, their data-mining of the wrecked Talarian vessel had given the Pandora a large supply of local information, including ship's logs of the Talarian's flight path through the Carnwennan Corridor. So Nyx decided to share this with Wakefield, as a pretence for also checking in with her.

Nyx stood at the door and pressed the chime.

Katniss was stood by some of her new equipment when the door chime interrupted her chain of thought, 'who could that be' she thought to herself, no doubt someone wanting to drop by, she hated uninvited guests. "Come in," she yelled as she picked up a padd and began to look over the data, while moving over to her desk, and as the doors gently slid open, she realised in the short amount of time she had been aboard, her lab was already a mess.

Nyx entered soon after, a stoic impression on his face. "Ah, this looks like my quarters. Good evening, Lieutenant, how are you?"

Katniss froze, her eyes locked on the Captain. For a moment she was like a rabbit caught in headlights. Then the comment about, how the lab looked like his quarters. she then slowly scanned the room with her eyes realising what a mess it was. "My apologies sir, I wasn't expecting visitors, to what do I owe the pleasure."

Nyx smiled politely and leant casually against one of the benches, trying not to appear too formal, "Just wanted to check in you, see how you were settling into your new lab? I hope you didn't suffer any damage while we were fighting with the Tzenkethi?"

"The lab is beyond my expectations," she said as she slowly started to tidy up, she pondered about the fighting and damage, she really didn't know many of the crew and well she had spent a lot of her time in her lab so she really didn't grasp the seriousness of what had happened. "And damage wise, none," she said thinking about what damage the ship really had, she really needed to lift her head and get out of her lab and quarters more, after all, she had promised dinner to the medical staff and she had put that off as well.

"That's good to hear," Nyx nodded, "We still have a couple of days left of travel through the Carnwennan Corridor, and we're holding some R and R activities on the Rec Deck to unwind after the battle. Even if you weren't specifically involved in the conflict, I'd like to encourage you to come along. If only to get to know some of the crew."

And there were those dreaded words, Rest and Relaxation. Katniss gently smiled. "I shall certainly try my best sir," she said showing some willing that she might turn up for said R+R. Might being the appropriate word, there was nothing worse than R+R in her opinion. However good it's intention it just gave people the excuse to neglect work, have fun and get into mischief. However Katniss needed to poke her head into the world now and again, and by what the Captain was saying, the ship had gone through something and Katniss had seemed to miss it. "I mean, I'll be there," she said looking at the seriousness on the Captain's face.

"I would appreciate that," Nyx remarked, though he could see the request would be an exercise for her. "In the meantime, we managed to download logs from the Talarian ship's computer. Some juicy pieces of raw data about the Corridor and Expanse to pour over. I'm giving both yourself and Lieutenant Brennan full access to discover what secrets and useful information you may gauge from the logs."

Katniss's eyes widened with excitement with what the Captain had just said, information no one had yet poured over, untouched, undefiled.

"It may be helpful for you to collaborate your theories with Brennan," Nyx replied, "At the very least, it would be more efficient."

"Of course sir, I'll get on it right away, finally something juicy to look at." she said in a rushed excited voice "I'll liaise with the Lieutenant right away and start combing the data for anything exciting."

Her eyes met the Captain's again, she really hadn't gotten out of the lab much, she had missed everything that had gone on, was she really that absorbed in her own work and her own company that she had disconnected with the crew. For a moment her mouth opened, then closed again. She smiled and composed herself.

"But maybe, that can wait until the morning," she said taking a deep breath. "I think, I need to do the rounds, call in on some people, sickbay, science labs, engineering. I think I need to get my face out there, instead of just sitting in this lab."

The captain relaxed his stance some, warmed by the Lieutenant's enthusiasm to meet the crew. He gave an approving nod, "That sounds like a great idea, I'm glad to hear it. If you wanted to spend some time on the Recreation Deck as well, I'm sure my wife and I would love to have dinner at Pandora's Box?"

Katniss thought for a moment, his wife was aboard, she had missed that as well. "That sounds wonderful, just let me know when and I shall make the time." she replied with another smile. If she was going to integrate with this crew, she needed to make more time for people, yes she liked her own company, she liked staying in her lab, but people needed to know they could depend on her, ask her for favours, not just wonder who she was when they saw her.

With that Katniss gestured to the door with her hand "I think I'm done here for the night Sir, where is your next stop? I shall walk with you for awhile."

Nyx nodded along, "I'll arrange it with the boss, let her find the time and get back to you. If you don't mind, I do have another stop on Medical and I do enjoy taking a stroll around the ship at this time."

Temple stood back and allowed the Lieutenant to move first, and watched with a broad smile. He was very pleased with how the meeting had gone, especially with Wakefield's warmth and friendliness. He was undoubting in his belief that she was yet another member of this crew that he was very proud to serve with.

Katniss slowly headed towards to doors "Of course, whenever is convenient for the both of you." she said returning the smile. "I know I was kind of dumped on you by Starfleet, but I'm happy to be here Sir and I'll help out wherever I can."She said and by this time they were both in the corridor slowly walking.

"I appreciate your team spirit," Nyx nodded as they strolled, "In fact, I was hoping you may be able to help Lieutenant Brennan in the Science department? Starfleet are yet to send an Assistant for her and I'm concerned the pressures of running a lab during such a scientifically intensive mission will prove too taxing without more support. As it would anyone, really."

"Certainly, I shall head there first thing in the morning," she said with a smile. "And thank you, Sir, for dropping in on me, making sure I poked my head up."

"Anytime, Lieutenant," Nyx replied happily, "It's what we do."
